Austin changing up coverage, with less single high safety and more match coverage/coverage 4. Take away first read more often so the pass rush has a chance to get there.

Much better tackling especially TE, to reduce YAC. Dugger had 4 tackles.

    I liked Ramsey at safety

Correction- Ramsey at cornerback, Slay on the bench more. Echols played a good game when Slay got hurt.

That was the most impressive part, that they seemed better organized despite all the changes in roles. Letting Ramsey do one thing helped. Dugger was certainly an upgrade over Clark. Did Thornhill even play. He and Clark were absolutely horrible against the Packers.

OK, the new look defense is on tape. Is it sustainable?
Don't forget about hands-up by the DL and LBs. Made a big difference in this game.

Not sure they will be able to repeat this performance against the LAC. Their LT is shutdown so Highsmith is likely to have a less loud game (and their RT is no slouch either).

Let's hope they come up with a better game plan when we play the Bengals.

Joe Alt is out for a few weeks at least with his ankle injury.

Was not sure of anything official
The RT has a groin issue from yesterdays game too

    LAC no linemen no RBs
I see 320 rushing yards for them

Alt was carted off the field yesterday. The other tackle, Rashawn Slater, tore his patellar tendon in training camp and is out for the season.

I don't think they have made Alt's injury status official yet. They have had a brutal season with injuries, including their top two running backs.

The Steelers have had trouble with Herbert running on them in the past. They need to take advantage of that battered offensive line to pressure and contain Herbert.

So look for quick slant passes early and often by Herbert. DL will need to get their paws up.

When I was watching I kept thinking two things. They kept mentioning how they had to simplify the system because of Dugger and not about communication issues. Looks like these guys can play when they aren't trying to figure out the rocket science behind a flawed defensive system.

If he can catch on with three practices and most of these guys been here since training camp, what does it say about the rest of these dudes....

You would think so, their O line is in shambles. But we've heard that old song and dance before where a team only had 2 healthy lineman so they had to go out and find 3 guys unloading trucks at Walmart just before game time. Of course they give up zero sacks and gouge us for 500 yards.

They also called a lot of 3rd down coverages on 1st down, because Indy likes to throw a lot in 1st down, but that doesn’t fit the ......We don't game plan narrative that some like to say.

If Highsmith can play like He did yesterday they will.
If He allows them to keep blocking him with one man, and they put 2 to 3 on TJ, we won't.

    Lol

    you messed it up again.
Ramsey was at FS a ton.

Apparently they ran Split Safety look over 40% of the snaps and they were coming into the game running low 20%.

running coverages that make the QB hold the ball just that extra 1/2 a second is the difference between a sack, FF, PD or a completion.

Jones had his longest time to throw of the year and it showed in the results. Colts deciding not to help on Watt and Highsmith on several plays was welcomed as well.

The Wilson INT I believe he said something about responsible for the release but he was able to lay back a bit and keep his eyes on the QB so he was where he needed to be and wasn’t expected to be for it.
