    Another Win tonight by Baltimore.
I don't know who is the worse Free agent CB Signing right now. I wanted the Steelers to sign CB Jaire Alexander and Khan signed Darius Slay. This is a tough call on who is worse at CB right Now.

Alexander is still only 28 years old and signed a $4 million contract, while Slay is 34 years old and looks like he is headed to the retirement home after cashing his $10 million paycheck from the Steelers. He probably took a Skooter to the bank to cash the check. :)
    upload_2025-10-30_21-18-39.png

I guess my answer is give me Jaire Alexander and $6 million in cash please. :)

    >>>> I have been posting on other boards as Joel B. for years 15+ years.

My last board was Planet Steelers which I posted on for years. Planet Steeelers had tech issues recently so many left that board and some went here. This board is better.

Since you seem to be a fan of mine, I played football in high school and coached a team in college. I know this game. My first Steeler memory was with my Dad watching them win their first Super bowl.

I think Tomlin has been here long past his expiration date and needs to be replaced. You were triggered by my post on recent team developments and seem to be sensitive on that topic.

Do you have Tomlin degrament syndrome? IE, Are you a fan boy if his?

Please be honest and truthful on my question.

Only 16 game season when that happened. 2010 for Hawks. Carolina Panthers also went to Playoffs in 2014 with a losing record. 7-8-1. Ironically the Seahawks beat the Panthers in the Playoffs that year.

Off topic: Do you remember a Steeler site called, "Stillers.com"???? It's long gone but the message board was violent. All member would have been kicked off this site which is a damn good Steeler site.

I do. I'd stop by now and again and skim over a few posts. The interplay was on par with a mosh pit.

THe steelers have no hope under Tomlin.....This is more and more obvious that the success he had in the first 4 years was because of Cowher who had built that team and culture and he had also the coaching staff of Cowher.....since that time, this is complete garbage....He had a great team in the killer B's era but he could not build a competant defense that we could trust in big moment, unless Shazier was super human.Culture is trash in the last 10 years and the standard is not the same

Overall, I think the Ravens have the easier schedule ahead of them.
The rough patches will be Vikings, Patriots and Packers.

Their problem is that their defense is terrible.
That coach in Miami has lost his team and the Dolphins are dysfunctional doormats and certainly the offense was not going to take advantage of the ravens terrible defense, although they did move the ball, they just couldn't score. The Dolphin defense is only slightly better than the offense and that certainly doesn't say much.
So, teams like the Bengals, Browns and Steelers become challenges for the Ravens.

With the Steelers, it's like a team that just hasn't gotten on the same page.
    Mix in some injures too.
We have a tougher road to go down, and I think the Colts handing us our 3rd straight loss tumbles the dominos and we win maybe 4 of the remaining games.
A win could spark a rally maybe.

Dolphins and their GM agreed to mutually part ways.

This is what I would like to see with the Steelers and Tomlin after the season. Tomlin needs to take some ownership that he has not held up the standard and walk away without making the Steelers let him go (because they never will).

Wishful thinking I know, but it would be a nice to see a coach admit that he's just not doing good enough.

I'll point to my post on the Vegas line. They are expecting a shootout that ends close.

Welp, in fairness, Dick LeBeau had Troy Polamalu for most of his DC. Imagine if we had Troy in his prime today.

The great Polamalu in his prime would not matter in this defense right now....They are that dysfunctional.

And for LeBeau, it's true that our defenses weren't good at the end, and it was time for a change at the DC position, even if it wasn't entirely his fault (I wasn't a fan when Butler was his replacement, but that's another story). But never under LeBeau; the Steelers' defenses struggled because of poor communication or having only 9-10 players on the field... it's been a major problem ever since.

It's now been 11 years since LeBeau's last season.

FWIW, Joel joined the board I was previously on (Planet Steelers) maybe 3-5 years ago? Not sure if he had a sock puppet there or not, but he posted a lot from the Joel account.

Aside: He didn't choose to have a Steelers great in a Browns uniform as his profile pic on that site.

Steelers DC Teryl Austin says the in-game defensive playcalling is the same that it's always been as long as he's been the DC: "I'm calling it, and if Mike wants to call it, he calls it. That's how we roll."

My guess is that this description fits the play calling duties of every coordinator in the NFL.

Some HC's "want" to call one side of the ball 100% of the time (e.g. McVay on offense). Some HC's "want" to call it close to 0% of the time (presumably McVay on defense...although I'd imagine that he'd still give higher level instructions re: let's put more pressure this series, or the lead is big enough so let's play off more, etc).

So like most press conferences, this answer doesn't really mean anything...because it kind of means anything.

NFL News: Steelers might reportedly consider parting ways with Mike Tomlin
    Miguel Angel Fernandez Castro

The Pittsburgh Steelers have not won a playoff game since January 2017. Because of this, many fans wonder if, at some point, Mike Tomlin will be on the hot seat despite being the longest-tenured head coach in the NFL.

Besides having already won a Super Bowl with the team, the argument that has kept Tomlin untouchable is that, throughout his career, he has never had a losing season. His 18-year streak has been an impressive run that has put him on a sort of pedestal where no one has been able to question whether he delivered the expected results for such a historic franchise.

However, the first crisis of 2025, with two consecutive losses and a defense that is falling apart, seems like it could bring winds of change. If his bet on winning a championship with Aaron Rodgers and the highest-paid defense in the league fails, Tomlin could start to feel the pressure.

    Will Steelers fire Mike Tomlin?
Art Rooney II could start considering firing Mike Tomlin if the 2025 season enters a critical state. The Steelers face a brutal schedule, and if they let the AFC North slip away with Joe Burrow injured and Lamar Jackson not at full strength, the criticism will be swift.

The theory of a possible change gained traction on social media because, during a Q&A chat with fans, insider Gerry Dulac was asked if the team ownership was angry about the lack of playoff wins and the terrible performances of Pittsburgh’s defense.

Dulac’s response was revealing because, for the first time in a long while, there would not be full support for Tomlin, who is under contract through 2027. “Angry is not the word. Frustrated or impatient would be a better choice.”
