He's not double teamed on every play we can't keep using that excuse for him.

Well he has a double team rate at 67% and he also has the highest chip rate in the NFL. So its not really an excuse its more of a reality, not to mention QBs gave been able to get rid of the ball extremely fast against our secondary. I find it weird that everyone is quick to attack Watt and give Highsmith a pass, Herbig was wrecking games and Highsmith comes back and he has been invisible. Watt is basically battling 2 or 3 guys on every play, the rest of the defense has to start making some plays.

I;d like to see him move around a bit. Is he too stubborn or not athletic enough?

He says he is willing to do whatever it takes. It’s coaching. They’ve done it a little, not nearly enough.

This. Teams have figured out how to neutralize him, and he (or his coaches) has done zilch to adjust. Result = I consider him out of the conversation as one of the best Edge Rushers in the league atm. In other news, DPOY MG had 5 sacks in one game - does TJ even have that many on the season?

Well, maybe Watt should switch sides more often. Garrett and Parsons face double teams too; the problem is even when Watt gets one on one matchups he isn't winning those.

Why the Steelers do not move Watt around to help prevent double teams is Tomlin's stupidity.

Play your man DB's! Not soft zone coverage and giving the QB a free pass for 5+ yards. I don't care if you get beat once in a while, we give up too many points anyway. Something good can happen if you play this way.

Change up the defense, Tomlin! I recommend rushing only 4 guys most of the time, playing the corners up closer than they are and forcing more throws outside the hash marks! Give me the best two ILB's in coverage on down 2 and 3 and do not include Queen on passing downs.

Play Roman Wilson more often. He makes plays. DUH.

    Safety's, earn you pay.

    Tomlin's is our #1 problem.

IMO, Tomlin should meet the DL's, LB's and DB's separately and chew them out for the poor play, giving credit to the few who made plays the past two weeks. Wearing his shades if he needs to.

Yes Watt can still play, but, he not the force he once was. And if he is doubled, chipped whatever(but really he has been single blocked a lot) where is Highsmith? Personally I feel that he has plutoed and is not a top flight pass rusher. I believe that Herbig is. And since Highsmith has returned Herbig's snaps have diminished! I would be in favor of trading Highsmith.

The Watt's contract will go down as a mistake. And he had to get paid more then Garrett as gummy worm Art II saw to it.

Herbig is coming up to his 4th year in 2026. His agent is licking his chops. The kid will get paid. Move Highsmith and sign Herbig.

As far as opposing players saying that Bags Popcorn Tomlins scheme is predictable now a head coach has come out and said it.

It is a travesty that some have called him a Guru of defense. The Guru was forced out.

And yet Bags keep putting the onus on the offense as the issue.

I feel its going to get ugly... I hope i'm wrong.

Elliott was their only good safety entering the season. Thornhill was likely to be the worst starter on defense. Carter a well-below-average backup. That is how they ended up trading for a guy the Patriots wanted gone.

He has an extra man on him more often than he doesnt. The other players have to step up and Herbig was but as you mentioned, they took him off the field when Highsmith came back. More dumb coaching decisions.

Probably the latter. He can't move around like Parsons, I wish he could.

Watch at your own peril. I counted the word "schematic" at least 4 times in this video. And Tomlin said he was ok with the Steelers schemes.

The broken defense.... a bit sad really:

On the 'Watt moving around' thing. How does this work exactly, in your thoughts?

Many have posted that Watt needs to move around on defense rather than always rushing from his LOLB spot. What are the specifics of this defense?

Is this a serious question? When all the guy does is dip and rip and occasionally spin from the same spot, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Swap the OLBs, move him inside, stunt, twist. Just use your imagination.
