Carter came back to practice, so he seems to be fine. Doesn't sound too serious with Hawthorne... Hopefully it isn't.

While the sky isn't falling, it is concerning. Regardless of the player, the team has been through hell with injuries the last few years. Just think of how good this team would be if they had all of their starters for an entire season. Not to mention that when injuries happen they have to get someone else for depth. With the cap situation they'd have to look for someone who's willing to sign for 2 beers and some nachos.

that depends if you buy the beer and nachos at the stadium. we don't have quite enough money for that.

i agree we have been hit as hard if not harder then any team the last few years. stupid stuff too. gilbert falling on the backs of legs. a hole in the middle of the practice field. lefty tripping over the goaline. lefty sliding down. enough is enough.

Don't these guys get physicals at the combine. Wouldn't you see bone chips on a mri. this team is going nowhere fast!

Sucks that he will miss OTA's but he was never going to start anyway, he has plenty of time to learn the system. Shamarko is the guy that is going to make an immediate impact IMO.

Yeah, it's a bummer, but his only contribution this year was going to be special teams anyway. Even those that love this guy know he's a project. If this happens again next year, it'll be trouble.

Slow down. These injuries won't make or break anything. We'll be alright

You really have to wonder? Would lets say Apple, conduct their business this way?(Too concerned with ripping the Gov off) I am concerned
with the modern day athlete in general. They seem to have all the advantages (training facilities, coaches, private trainers) but yet
they do not come into a work place ready to work. I am confused? Can somebody help me out?

While I see your general point and agree to an extent, remember that these are off-season meetings. Not training camp, not even minicamp. That's not an excuse for them showing up out of shape; but getting into shape over the summer is a process which you want to be finishing just when you hit the real activities. Up until then, it may well be a work in progress.

No. MRI is for soft tissue. An Xray would show this. Your point is still well made. But, as far down as this guy was drafted, there has to be a limit to how much of a physical a team can put into a guy they don't even know if they will draft?

Agreed. Teams aren't going to start performing X-rays and MRI's on guys for precautionary reasons.

You would think people would realize that.

Some of these are off season procedures but you get the point. People should be glad nothing serious has happened like it did Crabtree.

but these are extremely important to rookies in our system for the following year. we may see one of our eldest statesmen cut by next year(ike), so this definately is a setback if he was going to take over by 2014. if thats the plan. thats not even ST's duty that he was probably going to be counted on for and a dime back. we may end up having to keep a guy like king or DVD or brown, when we were not going to before. you know full well he won't be out there on the field if he doesn't fully know what he's doing.

Yeah, Every team has injuries hit in training camp.(Or pre-season, when fans have to pay full price to see second and third stringers fighting for their jobs..)
This is an interesting link(at least to me), to a story I read earlier today.
    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--s...tion-from-undisclosed-injuries-215808776.html
While I can understand the benefit to the teams in the league, I also have concerns about violations of privacy to medical records, that most of us would expect.
Granted, most of us are not professional athletes, making boatloads of money... but still...
It kinda bothers me that we are one of the first teams to jump onboard with this.
I guess it`s a good thing, as long as it`s limited to professional sports, but, to me, it sets a dangerous precedent, and I don`t blame the players, and their agents for fighting it.
I was just curious what the other members of this board thought about it.
It was the first I had heard of it.
    Edit...
And would every college player, who declared elgible for the draft, or even thought about declaring, have to get into the system?
What about high school players who dream of playing in the NFL?
If they don`t "opt in" to disclose every concussion test they have to take, would they then be inelgible to be drafted?
    Players from Samoa?
I dunno... Just seems kinda extreme to me, even tho, I understand why the teams in the NFL would want this...
