It’s strange to me that the official video for a song written in the 80’s is filled with footage of the band from 1997. You see Flea playing bass a few times and he only played with them for the ‘97 tour. Not to mention the presence of Etty…

imo that was the last tour where they were great. After that Perry turned into this washed out Liberace wannabe lounge singer. The video and audio I saw of the last tour the band was great, but Perry has become a joke

 

I bet back then you probably said I’m not listening to this new wave crap. Then you grew up, tastes expanded, and you’ve discovered oceans of music. This applies to your post about tainted love as well

 

I never liked the Cars and certainly not Soft Cell! I never liked Led Zeppelin when they were together but, now, I like their stuff

 

Maybe, , and this could be totally true, but some bands of that time I have always loved, like Men at Work, and the Fine Young Cannibals. It's just some of it when I heard it then I was like .....Blah...LoL, and I hear it now, and I'm like....Hmm

Wife and I went to a dinner theater last night where they were doing a tribute to the Bee Gees and ABBA. In their time, ABBA was a guilty pleasure but, I HATED the Bee Gee's disco crap. Still do. Their pre- Saturday Night Fever music was pretty good though. Still can't hear Stayin' Alive without thinking of the night club scene in Airplane!

 

Finished moving yesterday and started sorting through my records. I came across this little gem.

I never could get into Abba, My cousin who is a drummer, is a huge fan of theirs, I used to always tell him to shut it off. LoL.
Although I have always dug the Bee Gees.

 

LoL. I heard this on the history Channel one night when they were talking about him. LoL

 

I have always found this song aggravating, and hard to sing. LoL I also dig the contrast of the lead tone in the song. For a hit song at the time, this still is good.

 

I waited on him once. He was a really nice guy. His fiance/wife/whomever was a total smoke show. I can’t do van hagar

 

He had a guitar with Steelers painted on back. In a show after we won SB he flashed it at the crowd.

 

I'm one of the few who Like both the same. When it 1st happened, and I was in HS, I hated the idea, but the guys I played with in our local teenagers band 4B played it all the time, and I started digging it, and since I was a fan of Sammy before that, I don't know, it became cool. I've seen VH both ways live, and both were great.
