Stop feeding him. It's not gonna stop. It's how the Tomlin Troll Team cope with losses.

I still have to give the winner to @Ray D@Ray D who went out and destroyed his mailbox after a loss.

As to thread title: If the Colts take us this board will be very negative, as it should be. We'll be .500 and looking at the second half of the schedule I'd say MT is about to have a losing season. IMO this is a make or break game for the 2025-26 season. Funny thing is we'd still be atop the bumbling AFCN.

But we were 4-1. We are now 4-3. Are you thinking we should just go with all backups and quit on the season if we drop to 4-4?

"If the Colts take us?" Let me tell you if the Steelers beat the Colts then you know the game is rigged.

Each year 31 teams end the season disappointed they didn't win the superbowl. Colts haven't made playoffs since 2020 with rivers. So you are all saying you would rather have a coach who doesn't make the playoffs or have winning seasons than one who has given you a superbowl in the past and has the Steelers play to their best ability year after year despite who plays at qb.

Personally the Steelers should have taken jaxson dartinstead of going rodgers route

given the current state of your division if you could hold it together and win your division games you should still make the playoffs. Defense would have to improve significantly to go on a run though

he said we have 12 draft picks NEXT YEAR, its time to cut and rebuild.

To me it reads like see what we have and cut and rebuild in the offseason.

You'll open a can of worms with this comment;)

Our problem is Mike Tomlin had better teams and got embarrassed in Playoff games. Steelers had the personal when Ben was here to at least go to more SB's but Tomlin DID NOT have them prepared.

It not time to throw in the towel yet, but we are trending towards it. Give it to the 1st week in December then maybe start making changes!

I would start Howard IF we are 6-7 or worse or out of the playoffs. Whichever happens first. We must see what he has if this season is lost. Now if we are in the playoff race, AND Rodgers is healthy sit Howard. If AR is injured I want Howard be the #1 QB.

    1. I don’t think the Colts are a model of what any Steelers fan wants the team to be, so not a good reference point. I can certainly get your frustration.
    2. I can get why fans of other teams may envy the Steelers always being in the mix for a playoff berth at the end of the season, but consider what that has actually led to: Since the last SB appearance the Steelers have won playoff games after 2 out of 14 seasons, going 3-9 over that stretch with 6 straight playoff losses in games that haven’t been close. That’s not an upward trajectory is it?
    3. The defenders of Tomlin will credit him for always having a team that’s in the mix, but absolve him of the bad endings to every season like he’s just an innocent bystander. There’s always a different excuse, but Tomlin remains Teflon in the eyes of some folks despite being the man in charge and the single common denominator across all of that season-ending futility.
    4. For many seasons I took a glass half full view. I figured that if we were always in the mix, sooner or later the stars would align and we’d break through. A decade+ of Groundhog Days has cured me and many others. Some choose to refuse the cure and embrace the illness.
    5. I’ll say this as PG-13 as possible: Being a Steeler fan these days is like having a partner that teases you and constantly brings you to the edge and then rolls over and goes to sleep before you’re satisfied. Every single time. THAT’s being a Steeler fan in the latter half of the Tomlin era.

And here I am… AGAIN. I looked at this team at the beginning of the season and convinced myself that maybe, just maybe, this season could be different with a savvy vet QB and a collection of savvy vet players on defense who have historically had a knack for causing discord in opponents. Surely that collection of defenders could be harnessed in a way that covers their deficiencies in 1:1 matchups and allows the collective to cause problems for opponents, right? Well, so far the answer is no, not even close. It’s not over, so I’ll continue to watch and root hard for my team, but it will be from a position of pessimism not optimism, and even if the team surprises us all and wins Sunday I will just be waiting for the hammer to fall, because at some point there will be a spectacular flame out - whether during the latter part of the regular season or in the 1st round of the playoffs. My expectation is that it will not end well because it never does.

That's how I read it as well. Except the actual title of the thread changes it from this offseason to if the Colts beat us and we drop to 4-4 start doing that. Which is giving up on the season. That by definition is quitting. I'm against any notion of us quitting.

You never throw in the towel. This is football. Anything can happen. The one thing you don't do is give up.

I can't imagine any manager(of anything) being allowed to keep a job after failing for a decade to even get a whiff of the goal that they are paid millions to achieve. It's preposterous. Especially when the scope of and NFL HC is taken into consideration. The amount of people and money at stake are massive.

If every time the Steelers ran out on the field their jerseys were visibly dirty, no matter how big the detergent budget got, I have a feeling it wouldn't take a decade of that to fire the equipment manager.

Sure, the equipment manager got the guys dressed, but they looked like ****.
