We have something like 12 draft picks next year, its time to cut and rebuild.

 

If we lose this game we will be 4-4 with 9 games left. Not time to give up and throw in the towel.

That doesn't matter for this conversation. We don't quit. That's the point. I read the OP as, if we lose this we'll just throw in the towel on the season and start all rookies. That's just dumb emotions talking.

 

If we rebuild under Tomlin and draft a Qb under Tomlin it is insane. Next year is the perfect time to start over and with a clean state that includes Tomlin. Let the new coach bring in his scheme and draft the QB he wants to draft for his system. Extending Watt this year was crazy in hindsight. I get what they were trying to do but you have to trade him and Ramsey next year and cut Heyward. It makes no sense to keep those guys moving forward. We will be lucky to get a 3rd for Watt at this point.

 

Its not throwing in the towel. Its a move tp get younger, better, and faster. See what you have on the bench.

Are you kidding me. This isn’t just one season of this. This is the better part of a decade of this. It got worse with each passing year as Tomlin slowly migrated away from Cowhers old coaching staff and added his own choice coaches. It gotten even worse as Cowhers drafted players started to age and retire. Then you fast forward to this year and have the offseason that we had which typically only delusional team owners and desperate franchises do (as in buy aging superstars) as a last desperate attempt to be relevant. So of course we had high expectations. Tomlin even said this defense could be special. Always promoting the idea it was always about lack of talent and never about scheme and coaching. Well we gave him all his talent. He has no more excuses. this is his team with his players and his coaches. IF we we don’t move on from Tomlin after this season I will have no respect for Rooney.

 

I mentioned this before the season but got killed by some members with this comment comparing this situation to the one of 2005 season when the steelers were 7-5 and out of the playoff picture

 

Not sure how playing other players, who arnt starting now is quitting If you still have faith in Tomlin, his coaching ability or his judgement, then your a bigger fool than i am.....

 

I don't even say fire Tomlin anymore. It's clear he will be for as long as he want to be. So forget about it. The Rooney's will NEVER fire him. He's safe. So what can we do to improve this team with him as the head coach? That's the question you should be asking. Because Coach T is the man for the foreseeable future. Get used to it.

Trice and Howard have been on IR.

If we play Sawyer, who sits? If we play those WRs, who sits?


Just because you and I don't get to see the practice reps, doesn't mean guys are just sitting on their hands.

 

What else does 'cut and rebuild' mean? At the halfway point of the season? You don't know what's going on with the team. You don't know who's ready and who's not. You don't need to know.

If we're 5-8 with 4 games left, I would absolutely be behind the decision to start Will Howard the last 4 games to see what we have in him.
