Dependent on TJ Watt playing like the defensive MVP! For three years he produced turnovers, sacks, passes defended, and tackles for losses like no man did in the NFL. A total and complete super star, he put the other team in the hole often. Look up our record when we play without him. That how important he is/was.

Now he is a merlery good player who is often close but no cigar.

And Heyward is an old man and beginning to play like one.

Now our secondary has to cover a bit more and have been exposed like a 50+ year old lady without makeup. No more do they have a first ballot hall of fame player in his prime and a very good player who will at least be nominated for the hall of fame in front of them, making their jobs easy.

Teams have figured out that if you get the ball out quick the Steelers pass rush is completely neutralised and their secondary is Swiss cheese.

Some teams will be better than others at taking advantage of course.

Any good qb is going to shred them up like Love and Flacco have done the past two weeks unless something changes drastically with the coverage

Its time to clean house, and thats from Omar to the ball boy.awful team building in March led to this. The defense was old, washed and slow last year and Omar's solution was to get even older.

This has become the Steelers fans motto. When was the last season that this wasn't the sentiment by a lot of the base? Yet, here we still are, and it's the same ol' crap. The same symptoms continue to plague us but nobody(Rooney) can't seem to figure out what the root problem is.

Maybe I'll just bump this thread this time next year instead of bothering to reiterate. :roflmao:

Of course, but other teams won’t have 3-4 pass catchers running wide open all over the secondary on every pass play. Love had so many places to go with the ball last night

I’m not an expert on defensive schemes by any means and don’t know if it can be improved in the short term this group. Looking at form, the Colts could put up 40+ on them next week

What our defense highest paid defense on the salary cap. Khan would spend money badly, would he?

For the record i was against the length of the Heyward deal and giving a good player like out other OLB not named Watt a small mint

Watt has carried a mediocre squad for years. this team is 1-10 without him in the lineup. that's a testament to his greatness, as well as this franchise's lack of talent and coaching. without him dominating or teams scheming him out of games, the steelers can't compete.

They should have sold high while they could before giving him that massive contract. Sure, that probably would have meant this is a rebuilding year, but they aren't going anywhere with Watt, anyway.

Hell... they can't compete anyway. :lolol::facepalm:

Steelers haven't been truly competitive since 2018. It's been all smoke and mirrors ever since.
