Derry is visited in more stories than just "It." Even if only a mention here, or a brief visit there. The main character of 11/22/63 even stays there in 1958 while waiting for 1963. He even runs into a pre-teen Richie and Beverly. He once peers into the mouth of an old storm drain and feels like something dark, angry and hateful is looking back out at him.

I've never read the Dark Tower series. But I know King ties quite a few of his novels into it even if only tangentially. He does the same with Derry. Dreamcatcher, Misery, Insomnia, The Tommyknockers, and a few other books or short stories are either set in, visited, or mention Derry.

I just assumed the show would be an amalgam of several Derry stories. Not just a TV show about Pennywise. Otherwise, just call it "IT." But to be fair, the trailer doesn't really reveal much. That could have been pure speculation and wishful thinking on my part.

It’s a prequel to It. Apparently King said the first episode is terrifying. Here’s the article I read about it.

Yes I know He ties everything together, and many books have connections to Derry , but this is called It: Welcome to Derry.
Now Mike H in the book had a diary/book that he kept clips, pictures, stories , and his thoughts of Derry all through the times, but again this all started being erased out of his book after they killed It as adults.

That's what I'm getting at. He hasn't written this book so where does it come from?? Unless it comes from Mike's journal.
Like I said before, the main Black Kid/Adult in IT(Mike H.) kept a diary/book of pictures, new clips, stories, and his thoughts of Derry, and a lot of it was from the beginning of the town.
For people that didn't read the book, because they never showed it in either movie, or show that I can remember. Mike, and Richie through a vision they had from doing a old Indian ritual/smoke hole...saw IT when it actually arrived on Earth way back when.

All I can say is give it a chance. It might be great, it might suck, or it might be somewhere in between. Just put aside your assumptions and give it a chance.

Oh I am, I'm just curious about it all before they even show it. LoL. I know it sounds stupid, but Like I've said, It is my favorite book by him so I feel I'm invested in the show. LoL

I've only read IT twice, as opposed to The Stand, which I have read multiple times. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly but, wasn't the bike a bigger part of the book? Silver! Seemed to me it was "magic" I don't recall it being a big deal in the movies.

You know I was thinking about You said You didn't read the Dark Tower series. If You read, You should. It's pretty dang good, and that one book I said was a top 3 of my S. King books, The Wind Through the Keyhole was written after the series was done, but it takes place between the 4th ,and 5th book of the series. It's a story within a story, within a story.
Also talking about everything tied in, in the book Dreamcatcher, they try tricking the Alien to enter a maintenance pipe, and He sees.....Pennywise was here. LoL
Also in IT.....the cook from the Shining the one with the Shining, saved Mike's Dad from the burning of the Black Spot when they both were in the military, which is a part of the story from IT that neither the show , or movie has shown for some reason, they both left it out.

It kinda was. It was on it that they(Bill ,and Eddie) escaped the Leper/IT , and later as grown ups Bill found it again, brought it back to Mike's house , fixed it, and later when Bills wife was rescued after they killed IT as adults, she was catatonic, and He rode her on it through demolished Darry, and it brought Her back at the end.
Crazy, I've only read The Stand twice. LoL

I'm an avid book reader (not horror) and I simply cannot re-read a novel. It's not that I have a great memory but 25 pages in I start to remember the book so I don't want to re-read it again.

I wish I could re-read The Stand but to this day I remember so much. Fantastic story! I hope Nana Mama doesn't get you;)

By far, the book I've re read the most is Dune. Know how it's going to end but, the plot is so complicated, , you usually find some little clue you missed! Anyway, Just finished Black Rabbit last night. Very well done!

Re-reading has nothing to do for me about remembering the book, it has to do with I enjoyed it so much, I want to read it again. Like watching a movie, or a show you liked so much ,you just watch it again. You don't watch because You don't remember it, but because you really enjoyed it. It's the exact same to me for rereading a book.

Movies hell yeah but can't re-read a novel. Probably cause I want to read as many new ones as I can before bye bye.

Some movies I've watched at least 15-20 times. Godfather 1 and 2. Shawshank R. I bet I've watched every Seinfeld episode 50-60 times. Its on Netflix now and I've watched it all again 4-5 times.
