He is used to playing with Metcalf.

As my fantasy team can attest, no he is not.

He made that comment when the Steelers were 4-1. I wonder if he feels the same after the game vs the Bengals.

He is in year 11 and 33 years old. His total yards has declined every year since 2021. A lot goes into the reasons for declining stats like fewer targets, injury, scheme.....etc.... But it looks like a WR in decline to me and not a WR2. Don't see that he would be any better than Austin (when he returns), or Roman Wilson.

That has been the story of my fantasy team this year. Injuries and under performing players.

If they give up a three to replace Pickens, who only got them a three, that is a huge failure.

There's a few teams looking to add draft picks that are trade partners.

I know we have talked to at least 1.
No 33-year old is worth a trade nor putting much hope in as a FA.
Ideally, it would be great if a trade for a 26–28-year-old WR with some promise could be found.
I don't see anyone of value becoming a FA.

Then again, I could see Omar taking the safe route and not trading but going to the draft.
That may be a good move given the status of the defense.

Nor if they can get a WR that is signed for after the 2025 season.

I am sure the Steelers can find a WR on their current roster that can average 1 or 2 catches a game. No thanks.

    Maybe.

Although if term, value, and team cohesion are better then maybe it's a push.

We had Pickens for one more year. I don't think we would have given him the big contract he'll probably end up getting.

The media and wannabe media suck for the Steelers. They just make stuff up. I was just talking about how they had people freaking out thinking tj watt wanted to be traded from an Instagram post of him doing a peace sign.

If they trade for a receiver now, I think it is fair to argue that it is primarily for the sake of this season. I doubt they are getting a receiver as good as Pickens for the 2025 season.

I think this is playing out perfectly for the Steelers, they can get a really good QB without having a top 10 pick because some of these will slide a bit based solely on stats/performances, but these QBs are still one of the better classes in the past 5 or 6 years.

I do NOT want to move any 1st or potential early 2nd, unless its for a stud WR, and thats unlikely to happen (teams don't trade those types often).

Had this QB class met/exceeded expectations, I'd be disappointed, knowing 4 or 5 would be drafted in the top 12. Now, maybe a couple of QBs better than anyone we have on the roster will be there when we pick middle of the round.

Heck, we might still crawl into the top 10 based on our predictably awful coaching. At least that is consistent...consistently awful. When Daboll gets fired, we'll probably add his awfulness to the staff too. The schedule gets tougher, is a losing season in the cards based on how awful our defense is? Rodgers has been what I expected, a notch above anything else we could have gotten (though Daniel Jones is huge surprise and maybe could have been had).

What I'd give for a mannaquin or scarecrow for a HC (anything non-thinking is an upgrade over Tomlin) and either Jim Schwartz or Vic Fangio as DC. Instead we have the HC/DC clown show and it's been gracing Pittsburgh for 10+ years running.

    Hmmmm

Fernando Mendoza is a top QB, some project to be #1. I don't subscribe to that as I figure he will be a top 5 pick - out of reach for us. (Pocket Passer.)
Dante Moore looks he could have a career in the NFL...
I like Ty Simpson, he's stepping up. I want to see him play well against LSU and Oklahoma. But so far, he's showing some nice stuff.
Carson Beck is having a tough year. He's still one that could change in the right scenario. I don't see a any ranked teams remaining on his schedule, so he needs to step it up in the stretch.
Scouts are keen on John Mateer, saying he has a huge upside. I think he will be a backup.
Klubnik is a guy that can elevate down the stretch. I look forward to the game with Louisville.
Scouts are saying Garrett Nussmeier is probably the most NFL ready. He has some tough games in the horizon.
LaNorris Sellers, I don't know a lot about... if he is in fact a Jalen Hurts clone, I don't want him.

That's 8 off the top my head that potentially can rise their stock.
I don't throw Manning in there because he'd be a fool to come out this year. He needs next year to develop.

As far as the Match for the Steelers, I kind of hope Simpson would fall into our clutches... but that could change.
I also worry about the Steelers commitment to him or any QB.
In a perfect world, I like to see them convince Rogers to come back and play #2 or #3 to help develop a guy.
    Or
    Hire a QB Guru.

    All speculation on my part.

The Steelers don't need a stud WR they could use another solid WR2 or WR3 though.
