Those moves were made to help in areas where the Steelers were struggling. The defense was not good under Butler, and the D-line has improved since Dunbar came in.

I like where the O-line is headed right now. I'm glad Washington is being used more often, and the coaching staff is using him like they should. The Steelers are building something on offense. If we are going to make any sort of move it needs to be to add another WR, not another O-line coach.

Hell at this point, hire Callahan as DC. Austin is the coach who could use a shadow.

Thanks for reminding me of just one of Tomlins Stupid moves in the coaching department. Oh, how angry I was then!!

I get the timing, I get Callahan probably isn’t interested at this point in his career . I’m also not a big fan of Meyer , Austin , Dunbar…. Ugggg, grasping at straws here.

Butler had his hands tied…… Tomlin called the defense on gamedays, which suggest he also had his hands on the defense during the week …Dunbar, not sure on him BUT We are run on badly, Benton played out of position as is/was Black. Development of DLinemen seems to be difficult here, is because of who we draft or how we coach them???

I’d like to get another WR BUT I also think once again our coaching staff is under coaching and under utilizing Roman Wilson and Scottie Miller. Play calling can also be better.

First off, where did I insult you unless you’re Jeh. I think the other reasons could be lack of reading comprehension and miscommunication.

Lets take a trip down memory lane…

    1) I said the 2018 draft set us back 10 years… 7 years since… 0-5 in playoffs and no franchise QB.

    2) I said we needed to trade up with Steelers West(Cardinals) to get Metcalf who made it clear they wanted to trade back and did. Instead management was too busy celebrating Devin Bust Jr. So the Pats(pick after Cardinals) traded with a team who would take him before Steelers. Never liked DJ when everybody pretended he was the next AB to spite me. Now everybody hates him and he’s doing nothing while Metcalf is being a beast for our… Pittsburgh… Steelers

    3) I said Dobbs was worth building around vs wasting draft capital on Rudolph. Dobbs had more solo success. Rudolph back to being a back-up after one year. A lot of people don’t get this one… We could argue all day who is “better” the difference is minuscule. My point was Dobbs was a dual threat + using Rudolph/Washington picks to improve other areas = net positive all day everyday.

    4) I said we needed to be drafting/developing a Center two years before this team took it serious. I predicted K Green being a bust/nightmare when everybody thought he was the next Pouncey because they looked similar.

    5) I predicted 2 years ago that we needed to trade Watt and do a full rebuild. While it was a hot take and not popular.

See that’s the problem. It takes an elite level of foresight to be successful in the NFL. A lot of the times you have to make decisions that won’t make sense in the moment but look brilliant 2-3 years down the road. Pittsburgh sports teams are afraid to do this now of days because they value fan sentiment over Championships. So when I make these great predictions on the internet years beforehand I get labeled a troll because it does make sense to the average fan in the moment but does years later.

I’ve done the math and terrible draft picks/decisions I’ve predicted have compounded and cost us at least 10-15 draft picks since 2018. It’s all documented as well.

So yes, Steelers would be in a better position right now if this random guy from the internet(GMDot) had been making the decisions.

You lose all credibility when you say build around Dobbs, he's a journeyman QB who has been on a lot of teams.

    And what exactly is Rudolph?

It was a back-up for Ben and get years of experience for potential transition after Ben. I think if the rocket scientist was given a proper NFL development he could’ve been alright. Instead he was thrusted in at Oakland… Where the Steelers and Ben historically suck. He played bad and labeled and bust/failure from Steelers fans ever since.

INSTEAD we wasted the 60th and 76th pick in 2018 draft. We could’ve got Fred Warner and Orlando Brown Jr or Mark Andrews.

Then we wasted a 1st on Lennny Pickett. Should’ve got Mcduffie or Linderbaum.

Stick with Dobbs and we could’ve had a solid o-line and corner or TE.

Then you take our failed o-line picks and get somebody else if we got the guys above. Our team is 100% better.

Bad drafts trickle down and affect you for years. It started in 2015-2016 once Tomlin clearly got more say in draft decisions. 2017 and 2023 only solid drafts in a decade.

I guess all of those other teams failed to develop Dobbs too then.

And he thought the Raiders were the, "dumbest team in America." If nothing else, hire him for the sound bytes.

Proper development would’ve been giving him a few years to learn. Not wasting a draft pick and starting a competition for back-up in year 2.

Let’s compare their stats as starters elsewhere…

    Dobbs - 2,400 yards. 13 tds. 10 ints. 79 qbr.

    Rudolph - 1,530 yards. 9 tds. 9 ints. 80 qbr.

Like I said the difference between the two is minuscule… The upside for Dobbs was 1) He was dual threat with legs. 2) Extremely smart. 3) Ben actually liked Dobbs and hated Rudolph. 4) Choosing Dobbs means we don’t waste 1 and potentially 2 picks. Also, the organization potentially doesn’t get bullied into wasting a 1st on Lenny Pickett.

Rudolph got named starter at Titans when they were mathematically eliminated. I watched Callahan last year and he was the worst coach that I have watched. Let alone Will Levis, Rudolph and Cam Ward, Big Ben would flop under his coaching. He has no concept of game flow. His play calling was incredibly predictable and he lost the team way early in the season last year. He cried after Rudolph gave him his first win coming in relief of Will Levis (who got injured) against New England. I have watched both Rudolph and Dobbs...and Rudolph has accuracy and anticipation that Dobbs doesnt have. You take out two games in his first year of starting, the helmet game and the next game against Cincinnati, and his QB rating is over 90. He has had 7 games, where his QB rating has been over 100. I agree with Kaboly that Mason has potential to be an average nfl starting QB....
