Tomlin calls much of the defense. He is a fool. On one play he had Wilson covering a wr outside like a corner.

No doubles on Chase ? Sure match him with your slowest corner. How did that work out? And to make the same mistake the entire game?

I did not see any inside blitzes either.

There were a few plays where they had TJ rush from his OLB spot to the middle pulling blockers, and blitzed from the slot CB spot. That's a new wrinkle this year and has been successful.
Not many have success vs Chase and Higgins. The DL needed to get home and pressure Flacco. That was the plan and it was the correct plan. Just wasn't executed well.

Steelers D is based on winning up front and getting to the QB.

Saw somewhere that Flaccos average time to throw was just over 2.4 seconds. Very hard to get to him when the ball is gone that quickly. The Bengals had a good game plan and it worked.

They have struggled mightily for years when the front can’t get pressure.

I saw one inside blitz toward the end of the game. It worked. Never saw it again. We should have been deploying inside pressure the entire game to get that statue Flacco off his spot, especially given that they have a poor offensive line (at least against the rest of the league). Instead, they just let him stand there and shred our outmatched secondary with the best receiver duo in the league. Talk about stupid game planning.

Right, dumb Tomlin. Fool me once, okay that happens in football! Tomlin's Defense which by the way is the most expensive in the league was fooled several times. At least five times that game. We had but one inside blitz vs. and 40 year old Joe Flacco.

Coaches are supposed to put thier players in the best position to win. The Steelers coaches felt assigning their DB's one on one vs. fast star receivers and not pressure the inside vs. and old QB was the best course of action. The exact opposite of what the game plan should have been. And for some reason the Benglas who could not run the ball well, ran it very well on us. Go figure.

And fans wonder why we have not won a playoff game in eight years and counting.

The &#^t hit the fan next few weeks when we play the better NFL teams.

That and make some sort of credible effort to stop the run. On paper our defensive front was an advantage over the Bengals’ offensive front, but on the field we folded.

They never have their corners try to disrupt or jam the receivers at the line.

and their blitz scheme is non existent. If TJ is not on his game there is no pressure.

as far as run defense, idk, our DL men cant eat up more than one blocker so our LBers get eaten up, tackling may be suspect also.

they need a coaching change/philosophy change

I think they have been blitzing more this year. Ramsey had two sacks vs. Cleveland.

‘would have been nice if they blitzed him against cinci. It’s not like he was covering anyone

TJ is on pace for about 9-10 sacks this year. Ramsey is not making up for that. We’ve got problems on the DL. Bengals exposed us. I may be wrong but i dont see this as just a Thursday night road game glitch.
