Lost in our loss to the Bengals was Warren's performance. He should have been used more, particularly with the lead.

IMO, he has always been our best option as the #1 back since his rookie year, and Tomlin's love for N. Harris and his lowly yards per rush and catch tells the tale.

When Warren gets going he's a bad ass runner. Love when he carries the defenders.

This has been evident for the last two years. Warren is clearly a more explosive and superior option with the ball. Not only is he capable of so much more (and a far bigger threat in space), it is just refreshing to see a RB win by using his eyes. Warren has excellent vision and sets his blocks up well (when they're there). He punishes when he gets a crease (as evidenced by his tremendous effort on his TD run that got called back), and turns well blocked plays into huge gains (he's been a starter for 5 games and already has put a single rush on the field that is as long as Harris' career long rush). There is zero doubt that the FO made the correct decision here. I am beyond excited to see Warren work while this OL and offense continues to develop.

I know the offense as a whole started out quite slow (the OL in particular), but once we've gotten a feel for what we want to do (and how we want to do it), Warren has shined bright (and Gainwell as well the one week Warren was out). I have high hopes that we will develop into a highly competent offense throughout the season. Rodgers and his heady play has helped the passing game, while I think we are clearly better at RB and OL. If we can upgrade WR2 in a significant fashion, there is absolutely no reason that we shouldn't be a top 10 offense. If that becomes the case, we should be a threat to win any game that our defense gives a middling NFL effort.

Warren was in his sweet spot; 15 carries in a game. As long as you don't try to turn Warren into your Bell-Cow RB like Harris and ask him to carry the ball over 20 times a game your Idea will hold up.

2025 Season 5 games played 70 carries for 311 yards. If this was Harris he would already easily have over 100 carries in 5 games. Maybe this is just Arthur Smith knowing how to use Jaylen Warren to maximize his abilities.

You know I still haven't heard if this play was an actual Flee-Flicker, or if it was a play action pass that Warren just took the ball away from Aaron Rodgers. I have never seen Arthur Smith's offense run a Flee-Flicker play with Pittsburgh.

Maybe someone Knows what the actual called play was???

I think part of it is Smith, but I think Warren's skill set is very underrated. He honestly could be good in nearly any type of attack. He has great vision, is very sudden in his cuts, he runs with good power (especially for his size), he's very difficult to bring down, dangerous in the open field, he's a great blocker, and good in the pass game. He's just a very good all around back. He needs 20 touches a game. I don't care how we do it, but he's just too good to not get the ball.

The modern offense just expects more out of a back, and I think Jaylen gives us everything we need to be a successful offense. I've said it before, but Najee was just in the NFL 20-25 years too late. If he played in the late 90' and early 2000's, Harris would've been a perennial high end back. Offense was a lot more "pound the rock" and lean on your large, bruising guy to carry the team. Najee's size and skillset was similar to Eddie George, today's game doesn't value that type of runner as much. You're going to see a lot more guys like Saquon, McCaffrey, Kamara, Gibbs, Bijan, Cook, Achane, Jones, Warren, etc. playing high end roles on teams. There are still a few guys like Henry, Jacobs, Williams, Harris, etc. roaming around with real roles on teams, but they're fewer and farther between.

all the backs this year - seems we either get less than 2 yards or stopped for zero OR they break it for 10 plus yards. would be nice to have a more solid average per carry.....kinda all or nothing.

It appears that a flea flicker was called at some point but then checked out of. Tomlin said its what was called, but that doesn't mean somebody said something that should've changed the play and Warren didn't get the memo

It helps that the Steelers have their best passing game since 2918 to open up room for him.
