Forget about what you'd have to give up. Brown is pouting right now while playing the the SB defending champs. Supposedly he is upset over his role on the team. Can we see that role increasing with an offense that also is not pass happy and already has a $30M number one receiver?

The Steelers GM said they construct rosters with a three year vision. I am certain Rodgers won't be around for Yr3.

Steelers don't have a WR problem. They have an OL problem. Give the receivers (and Rodgers) time and they will be open. There were several plays in the CLE game where if Rodgers had an extra half second he had receivers open.

I would vote "yes" in a vacuum, but there are problems. Pat may be a bad fit for our offense, but the Eagles are a run first offense too with a TE that already is involved heavily. I'm not sure Pat is a great asset for them. As for Highsmith... sure. Who wouldn't want Highsmith. But at the same time I dislike how thin it puts us at EDGE. We'd be relying on the rookie Sawyer heavily, and it means an injury to our EDGE room would instantly make it a Sawyer start and no depth behind... Alex is much more "tradeable" in the offseason to me.

As for Brown.. yes, he's a good player, but would he not still be disgruntled here? It's not like he'd be going to an offense that can garner 8-10 targets for 2 separate WR's. It seems like his main issue is that he doesn't like being less involved and I can't see him being a ton more involved in our offense than he is in Philly. I think Rodgers would find ways to get him the ball... but I also could see a potential where he is unhappy here as well. Hard to tell.

In a vacuum its a good trade because we essentially give up our 3rd TE and our 3rd Edge player for a guy that is a WR1. But I don't think it's happening. Besides, I'm not sure that Philly accepts that offer anyways. Someone else may offer better.

It definitely feels like a situation where he'd rather put up numbers on a middling or bad team than sacrifice his numbers for team victories. I get that his numbers are what gets him paid (which is understandable to me), but I don't think our offense offers him what he wants/is looking for.

I don’t think Rodgers is looking at this last opportunity as a stop gap season to help the Steelers organization rebuild.

I've changed my tune on rebuilding mode after seeing Rodgers play. He is good enough to open up a SB window - do all possible to win it now or next season!

In my most optimistic moods, I see one playoff win this year and a SB win next year! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

You need 2 good QB's to run at the SB.
    Hopefully Howard is that guy.

I keep circling back to Mac Jones. He is under contract for 2026 at a paltry price.
If he keeps playing well, someone is going to trade and the 49ers should get a nice payback, so it is possible the reward for letting him go makes it ok.
I would not give up a lot nor get into some bidding war.

As far as WR, Metcalf is good for another year at least so they do need to come up with a good WR somehow.
Even if they get Brown, it is still a stop gap.

I really wish Rogers was 35. He's really been great here.

It's 2 (and a few days) weeks to deadline..
If Omar is serious about a run, a WR is not a bad addition, and we do have a decent TE to offer up.
My gut says he sits on his hands and no changes.
My brain says look at some of the imploding teams and see if there's a WR that wants out. We could use a player that could add that little punch.

    So, we'll wait and see.

I would say Kahn sitting on his hands is a truly poor choice of words. Will Kahn give up a king’s ransom to get a wide receiver? I hope not because that would be foolish. Are opposing teams looking at the Steelers thinking they can get a king’s ransom for a receiver? I’m sure there are some that do. That doesn’t mean Kahn should cave into their demands

Do you think brown won't complain here with being behind dk? Brown is a cap issue as well. And Brown has knee issues.

What Rodgers feels has no bearing on the Steelers' decisions. He's a one year rental.

Correct, AJ Brown is disgruntled after winning the Superbowl. How do people think that he would be happy to come here?

Throw more to the TEs while you rotate in a #2 WR decoy. Also throw to Gainwell out of the backfield.

I realize fans get ideas in thier heads and think he this is a good move because this player is an unneeded expense. But if you trade Highsmith now that means your depth is a rookie or the failed experiment of making Leal or Loudermilk a 3-4 outside linebacker. So since Herbig and Watt both have some wear on them during this early season let that fact soak in. Then think about the FA edge guys out there who are just crap.

hard to really bonder any deep thoughts from other, bottom line the Steelers looked for a vet. and Rodgers responsed. , Rodgers at this point has shown he can still perform, I would think post year discussion will be solely based on the individuals, is Rodgers content and hang it up or are the desires there to do it again, does the team want to go a new direction or does his performance bring them into different thinking. I personally may have thoughts, but until the new season starts i think anything is just speculation.

You’re right he is holding them back from tanking the season to get that #1 overall draft pick. How stupid of me to overlook the rebuild with all the other experienced vets that they brought in on defense. We are certainly going for the Lombardi in 2029 with an uncertain somebody at the QB position. Bringing in Aaron Rodgers was only done to solidify MT’s non losing record. As soon as they go 9-1 it will be instructed to lose the next 7 games and trade up for the big name QB at the draft in PGH next April.:frustrated: Good god. I might as well go debate with my lawn mower.

I know this sounds crazy but I want my WR to want the ball. A selfish tweet doesn’t bother me but I know media uses it to get clicks and ratings for a few days which can be frustrating. I just think its part of the game. Next week they will find a new player to obsess over.

Thing is.. although the Eagles won the SB the passing game has been ass for years. Its feast or famine with Hurts when it comes to passing. He isn’t a dink and dunk QB but it works well when the running game is working.

There is zero chance the Steelers bring in a guy like Brown after jettisoning Pickens, might as well have kept Pickens if they do that.

I think the Eagles might be willing to make an AJ trade. I just don't think they would do it for the proposed offer. I like both of our guys but I don't see them being useful for the Eagles except as depth pieces at best.

My opinion, AJ Brown > Pickens in that he blocks better and legally. AJ is a contested ball catcher same as GP. DK and AJ would be WR1a and 1b, if one goes down or has an off game the other can pick up the slack. GP has shown in Dallas that he is not ready for WR1 status even if he believes he is. And I really wanted to draft GP.

Which part of his words don't you believe?

Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers told the @PatMcAfeeShow that he’s “pretty sure this is it”, the last season of his NFL career. Rodgers said it is why he signed a one-year deal in Pittsburgh.

And you have no idea if the Steelers would bring him back next year or not.
