The DL didn't get blown up by the Patriots they shut down their running game except for the QB scrambles, they aren't going to lose all six of those teams you listed the defense is finally healthy now.

That makes no sense. If you don't see the difference between trying to find a causation for lack of Thursday night success on the coach, vs an 18 year career of success, I can't explain it.

    1. Mike Tomlin's record on Thursday night, home or road game, doesn't play anywhere into his career as HC of the Steelers. A coach could lose every Thursday night game they are ever scheduled and still be a HoF coach and in the playoffs every single season. One has less than nothing to do with the other. I will discredit the losses on Thursday nights. You can discredit the wins on Thursday nights. I think that works.

    2. Really?

    3. Naw! For real, for real?

    If we maintain ball control
Keeps opposing offenses off the field
Therefore it’s a low scoring tilt
Won’t have to score 50pts to beat the so called elite teams
    Kinda makes sense to me
But I have never been accused of having common sense

So glad our defense forced not one but two fumbles as Pats rbs were going into our end zone

Seems to me all the top AFC teams have flaws this year. There is a sliver of hope for better-than-expected results for us.

I’d like to see the team build on some of the success they have realized. That includes an offense that has to be consistent and continued growth of the OL.

I mean, to me all of it kinda goes together because there are ups and downs to Tomlin's career. I don't discredit anything.... the good or the bad.

The early years saw tons of success as well as post season success. The later years are plagued with underperformance and playoff drought. He's brought teams back from the brink into relevance and taken teams that are hot out of the gate and imploded... At least for the entirety of his tenure we've been a relevant team in the discussion week 17/18. I'm not hardline that he is one guy or the other. I don't think he's the sure fire HoF guy he seemed to be until about 2011. I also don't think he's a scrub that can't win a big game to save his life. He's an amalgamation of all of it.

Just because someone is successful, doesn't mean that he is excused of whatever warts he has. He's a competitor. I am sure he doesn't brush it off as nothing. He's probably trying to figure out how to be better prepared for short week games on the road.... Being bad on a short week on the road doesn't mean he isn't a good, successful coach. But, because he is a good, successful coach, it doesn't mean his record in such games means nothing too. Not everything has to "define" a player, or a coach.

I was mostly just reacting to the "the coach doesn't play" quote. Its just something that I don't believe in. If the "coach doesn't play" meant anything at all, Tomlin wouldn't be better paid (on a yearly basis) than 49 of his 53 players. The coach matters a lot. That was the majority of what I was responding to (not necessarily knocking Tomlin).

It doesn't bother me if you or anyone knocks Tomlin. I do require a legitimate and current complaint though or I may knock back a little myself. The original post is one of those such knocks that is just absurd. "We will lose because Tomlin hasn't won on Thursday night within the division in 6 games over the span of 18 years". How is that a relevant stat? I posted other irrelevant stats to go with that one in my response.
Off you want to take issue with the Tomlin won't be playing remark, have at it.
