Apparently, the steelers are 0-6 under tomlin in thursday night games on the road against the division.
My gut also says that the steelers are going to lose this one, as the bengals showed some spark in green bay.
It has trap game written all over it. Short week, feeling like a must-win, we have all seen that too many times in the past. I absolutely can see us losing 13-19. That does not mean we will for sure but I can see it happen. And then everyone questions Tomlins poor coaching again and why his teams never come prepared under those circumstances. Obviously I hope we win 30-14 but I am not too sure we will.

    Interested in your opinion now

If we had Mitch, Kenny and QB's like that in the lineup then I would agree with you. I really think that with Rodgers at the helm he won't let this happen.

To be honest, I think it will be close. Divisional games tend to be close, and we have the short week road game/past history working against us. Flacco is at least a threat back there that we have to take seriously, even if he isn't what he used to be.

It will come down to two things for us. Can our DL/EDGE players beat the Bengals OL bad enough to force Flacco into a lot of quick throws and quick decisions? And can our offense run the ball effectively enough to keep us out of turnover trouble? If we get after Flacco and run it well, I don't see how we don't win. If we let Flacco stand back there and force us to cover Higgins and Chase all game... it could be another game like the Jets game. High scoring.

    Too small sample size.

Flacco being 3-0 vs the Steelers on Thursday night is also a pointless stat.

Steelers vs Bengals on Thursday night 1-1. What does it all mean?

Aaron Rodgers is 2-2 vs the Bengals in his career, but 13-6 all-time on Thursday night. He's never played the Bengals on Thursday night football.

I'm looking, trying to find a pattern. Btw...Mike Tomlin will not be playing Thursday night.

I absolutely get what you are saying but Tomlin is the one constant here and I do not think that 6 games since 2007 are a too small sample size. I think it actually shows that Tomlin-coached teams do not seem to prepare well for those occasions. But again, yes it is also absolutely possible that they get the job done.

I take nothing from Thursday night games when judging any team overall. They are mostly garbage games for the obvious reason that 4 days is too short a time to recover/prepare for an NFL game.
This one has 2 40 plus year old QB's who have to play in that short of a time.

I cannot overstate how much I despise the NFL for adding Thursday games for these reasons. These are not real NFL games

It’s a little worrisome and here is why.
Steelers beating bengals will absolutely put them in the drivers seat for the division. When do things ever come this easy?

Considering that Thursday Night away games haven't been too kind to Tomlin, this is a fair statement to make. Last time Pittsburgh won a game on Thursday Night away was against Indianapolis; 2016. Since then?! Every game he has had away on Thursday Night have resulted in losses.

This is a new team with new personnel no less. In addition, Joe Flacco, while is dangerous, isn't as dangerous as he was a Season ago. He still knows the Steelers more than any other QB that has faced Tomlin but the same can be said for Mike Tomlin knowing Joe Flacco just as well.

I like the fact that we were sitting our best players in the 4th QTR, so they were ready to go on a short week.

Tomlin says you take it 1 week at a time, but in the 4th QTR against the Browns, you could tell we were already preparing for the Bengals this week.

    Hopefully the strategy pans out.

That definitely would be ideal for certain. I'd imagine that Tomlin has had enough of losing on Thursday Night himself. With better preparation this time around, the team will be in better standing with the upcoming game.

I am pretty sure we got beat by the road team on Wednesday last year; Christmas Day. I would have bet money the Steelers were going to beat the Chefs on that short HOLIDAY week.

Usually, this game would be prime setting for a mail-in job by us and the Bungles need to win. It is a must-win for them.

However, this year feels different to me. I think we have momentum and stability and we are playing hungry. The Bungles have neither and deep down inside, the Bungle players know this is a garbage year for them.

My gut says we win, either a squeaker or comfortably.

    ^This right here^

Without going back through all the games my sense is that some of those TNF games were at a time the team was beat up, injured, and exhausted from a bunch of close games in prior weeks. This game is different as the team is generally pretty healthy especially on the edge and at RB.

If they get the run game going and Rodgers only needs to toss the ball 20 times it should be a winnable game.

Well Tomlin teams the last 10 years always seem to lose a game they shouldn't and collapse later in the season. The season isn't too old.

The Bengals are at thier worst now, and we are riding high.

As such I do not see a loss.

I think the Steeler dodged a bullet with the poorly maintained field. Boswell could have been hurt. If that happened, the Steelers would lose their offensive MVP.

Also, consider that the Bengals have zero run game. They are dead last in rushing so it's all up to Flacco to make something happen. Expect to see a lot of dime defense on the field.
