This had me literally ROFL. Not a bad effort at all.

It's a song parody featuring "Ygritte and Jon Snow." The lyrics are well done. The dancing (especially Jon) and the innuendos though are priceless... especially for where the story is about to go. ;)

I'm not embedding it because although the language is tame, the double entendres are pretty heavy.

Funny vid. Cute redhead? Bonus. :)

I had to wait until last night to watch the last episode. How awesome was that Daenerys scene? It was one of my favorite parts of the book, and I wasn't disappointed watching it.

    Oh, RIP old bear.

I'm pretty sure that guy knew he was about to die when she revealed being able to speak the language.

It's no secret I have been waiting for that scene. I wasn't disappointed. A few minor deviations (would love to have seen Dany slash the slaver's face with his own whip), but I really can't find fault at all. Very well done.

Favorite tiny little moment? When Dany tells Kraznys that "I am Daenarys Stormborn of House Targaryan. Of the blood of Old Valyria. Valyrian is my mother tongue." Watch Missendei. She shoots Kraznys this look of "dumbass." Or "Ooooooo... someone's about to get it....."

Jorah head bobbing along with the Unsullied "slow clap" cracked me up.

Loved the crazy eyes on "It's Ramsey but we haven't called him that yet" when Theon realizes he's been jobbed yet again. For that matter, nice "off the book" speech by Theon. He's still a "richard," but you have to almost pity him... especially as things are only going to get much, much worse.

And the Queen of Thorns has just owned every single scene she's been in so far. I liked the character in the books. LOVE the way Dame Diana Rigg is playing her.

Summed up my thoughts pretty well, Ray. I also thought that Varys' 'sorcerer in a box' was a nice touch.

Yes. And since that isn't in the books at all (his capturing the sorcerer anyway), I'm dying to know what he intends to do to him.

On second thought, maybe some things are best left a mystery.

Oh, I'm sure he just wanted to stow him away until he found time in his busy spidering schedule to have a proper heart to heart with him. I imagine he'll just ask him who's voice he heard, if by chance he could kindly conjure up his genitals, and set him on his merry way once they finish their chat. :lolol:

Valar morghulis and all that. ;)

I think this last episode had a landmark moment. If Melisandre wasn't lying when she told Arya "... but we will meet again," then the SHOW just spoiled the books. Arya has not yet met Melisandre in the books, never heard of her, not even remotely close to each other geographically speaking (literally half a world apart). This implies they will meet down the road ("again" for the show, but the first time in the books).

Of course, the whole "darkness" thing from Melisandre served its purpose. There's an extremely minor character in A Storm of Swords that Arya meets around this time who all but tells her the same thing.

Thoros and Melisandre never meet in the books (to date anyway), and its never even really implied they know of each other, although it wouldn't be a surprise if they did. But they needed to take a shortcut, and that whole scene did the job well enough. I enjoyed it.

But back to the original quote. If you think Joffrey is bad (and he is), just remember this: he's a friggin choir boy compared to the "as of yet unnamed boy" currently imprisoning and torturing Theon. :darkness::emperor: (There's a good reason they're dragging out revealing who he is. But they have left a lot of clues if you look for them)

I thought the same thing about the 'we will meet again' line, Ray. It did make me wonder about a known future story line involving Melisandre, though. I'll say no more. I thought that scene with Melisandre and Thoros was was pretty cool, too.

I think the identity of Theon's captor will be revealed next week. Just a hunch, I could be wrong.

I think they'll hold off identifying him until after THE major event this season. Considering who one of the major players in that event is, IDing the "boy" would tip their hand a little early.

edit: and what storyline? I'm only aware of (ok, I've read them. hehehe) 3 preview chapters for The Winds of Winter, and Melisandre isn't in any of them. Speculation? Or do you have a source?

Caution, some may consider this spoilery-
That major player tells another major player about Theon in a strategy meeting before that major event (even offers a memento). That's what I was basing my hunch on.

*This is a spoiler. Don't read this if you haven't read the books. Seriously*
As far as Melisandre goes, I wasn't referring to any major storyline. I haven't read the preview chapters, and I'm certain you'd be able to better speculate about any future developments regardless.
    :smiley1:

I was just thinking of her seeing Arya coming to the Wall on horseback in the fire. If she's already met her, then there'd be less room for error about who's really coming to the Wall. That's all.

I see what you're driving at. Well, it wouldn't be the first - or last time she was mistaken. ;)

As far as the reveal, I was thinking for non-readers that they really might want to keep their cards close to their chest.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Tyrion Lannister.

I wondered when we would see Sam become Sam the Slayer. :clapping:

I was a little miffed that they changed Tyrion's response to "What if I never want to?" But everything else was good enough that I let it go. Besides, "And now my watch begins," is a decent response too.

I'm more than a little miffed (and have been all season) about Sam the Slayer. It changes too much that his brothers weren't there to see it happen. Great scene and well executed. But the whole point of Sam the Slayer is that it is WITNESSED by other Night's Watch. Now, if we get the nickname, it's going to be a mocking one as they won't believe the story.

Cersei killed it last night with only a small handful of lines. I have to say that Lena Heady is really coming into her own and this season she IS the Cersei I know from the books. Makes me almost wonder if she finally read them. (the first season, I wasn't sold even though I do like her as an actress)

I like how they condensed Dany's story with the free companies. I'm not sold on Daario yet. This Daario is too poetic and romantic. Give me lecherous Daario and we'll be ok. He needs more cockiness and swagger. (I'm glad they kept his "ladies" at least)

No new GoT next weekend. The calm before the storm. ;)

I agree with...well, all of that. After reading the series and rewatching the shows, Cersei started to hit it for me at the end of last season, but yeah, she's really becoming the Cersei I know from the book.

They sort of merged those Sam scenes and I was disappointed, because that was such a badass scene with the Ravens in the book. I can't believe there's only two episodes left...

"A Dothraki, er, I mean Frey wedding without at least 3 deaths is considered a dull affair."

LOL. I know that reaction. It's one of those "chuck the book across the room" moments. Although, to be fair, in the books, there's this overwhelming sense of doom building up for a couple chapters prior to the Red Wedding, so you're not taken completely by surprise. It's more like seeing a train wreck coming, hoping you're wrong, and being powerless to stop it.

One thing you can be thakful for... a little anyway is how they did the Arya-Hound bit. In the book it was heinous. The Hound recognizes almost immediately that bad business is happening. Orders Arya to hand him his helm and axe. Kicks some major ass as even they come under attack. Arya, being SOOOO close is obstinate and begs him that they have to go inside to help her Mom and Robb. "They're already dead!" is his only response, or close enough anyway. He tells her to get on his horse. That they have to leave ASAFP. Arya instead bolts away from him and runs for the front door.

"You know what happens to children who run." ;)

The last thing we see in her chapter is her running as hard as she can, and the Hound charging after her hoofs pounding. The last line of the chapter is:

"His axe took her in the back of the head."

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was worse to me than Ned or the Red Wedding. I frantically paged through the book almost praying to see another "Arya" chapter. And breathed a HUGE sigh of relief when I saw that indeed there was one.

In the show, he just snuck up beside her, grabbed her, and when she tied to pull away, knocked her out and slung her over his shoulder.

And yes. If you're keeping score, that's now 2 Stark girls the Hound has saved even though he didn't have to. ;) Not that Arya's going to appreciate it much.

It gets better. :) It really does. The Red Wedding is about the lowest point in all the books. I can't promise they won't kill any more of your favorites. There are 2 more books yet to come after all. ;) But it does get better. And what's left of the third book they haven't shown yet is all kinds of awesome. We'll have to wait until next year for a lot of it. But it will be worth the wait.

Oberyn Martell, aka The Red Viper for one (and Dorne in general). I'd love to see Antonio Banderas play him. But if not, they better cast him right. The Iron Islands will heat up big time. What goes on at the wall is good enough for a whole series alone.

And you don't think they cast an actor on par with Ciaran Hinds to play Mance Rayder for nothing, do you? ;)

Something that bothers me is that they didn't establish "guest right" very well. They showed the almost ceremonial sharing of bread and salt, but didn't really explain its significance.

Once a guest has shared food, drink and salt with his host, a "guest right" is established. The custom dictates that once under guest right, the guest is protected from harm by his host, and likewise, the host cannot be harmed by his guest until said guest right has ended. It only ends when the guest formally leaves, or if the host gives them a farewell gift. To break this custom is a MAJOR TABOO. Forget ethics. It's considered a moral abomination. And any man who violates that right is considered damned by the gods for all time. They are cursed. They will be shunned by even the lowest of the low.

So Robb and Cat weren't completely naive walking into that trap. They had every reason to believe they were safe under guest right.

So now the Frey's are considered scum by the entire realm, and even across the Narrow Sea if word reaches them. Even Houses that benefit from the destruction of the Starks will hate the Freys.

Oh, they'll make what use of them they can if it suits their purpose. But they'll despise them and won't lift a finger to help them.

Interestingly, a host can deny guest right by greeting his guest with a bared sword across his lap (Robb greeted Tyrion exactly that way when Tyrion stopped in Winterfell on his way south from the Wall). You'll also note the Starks are wearing armor when they first enter the Twins. They only remove it once Walder Frey offers them guest right.
