there was a story about jones needing some girth put on him at the rookie mini camp. he looked tiny compared to woodley and worilds. i thought that about him myself. he looked more like a strong safety to me. they said his speed looked ok though. he struggled to get to 20 reps at his pro day they said. ( our 3rd rd. wr did 22) ( on a side note our possible starting LT did 19).

i could see him struggling against bigger TE's and T's. or even FB's. that's exactly what bama did to him and he struggled in that game. hit the weights young man thats all i have to say.

Last year, the only person who didn't look tiny in comparison to Worilds and Woodley at training camp was Big Snack

Yeah, everything I've read said Jones is too small for the 3-4 and is going to have to add some muscle. Time will tell if that's true or not

College isn't the NFL. He'll be going against bigger, stronger and faster tackles and TE's than ever before. Also, regardless of what he played in college, the scouting reports on him have mentioned he needs to put on more muscle to play OLB in the 3-4. That may or may not end up being true, but that's what's being said about him.

Scouting reports!lol they are never wrong. Watch tape. Dj flucker was a first round pick and jones owned him every time they sent him in that game. I aint saying he dont need to be stronger but to dismiss him as an olb just because some dude who never played wrote a report is ridiculous

I also thought he was pretty small but seems like I saw something where Mayock said that he expects him to put on 20lbs at least.

bama blew him off the line from the tape i watched. with TE's, Tackles, and sometimes with a big rb. quanterus smith a late round draftee, owned fluker to the tune of 3 sacks and 5 total against bama. maybe fluker was over drafted, or those scouting reports on him were bunk, but not the best way to prove your point.

Again, dude will be fine! All players coming out of college need to add muscle and weight. The argument that he isn't going up against college guys anymore doesn't make a lot of sense. All these players came out of college, at one point. They all had to get to where they are now. Besides, didn't these same guys go against college players when they were in college?

it depends on how much work they want to put towards improvement. there are different levels wheather it's HS,college or the first years in the pros. most freshman don't play for a reason. the difference in physic is part of that. i believe defenders at alot of positions are getting smaller and quicker. the big thumper LB'ers are becoming more of a thing of the past. as the offenses change so will the defenses and the defenders to counter.

if guys like hawthorne, thomas, nicholas, mclendon, spence, rolle, jones, make it in the next couple of years, our defense will have added alot of speed. we need it.

If his head and neck are any indication,he will fill out nicely. He looks like a pit bull, and he will be feared like one.

Hopefully he doesn't go to the Hollywood Woodley school of girth.

He will get stronger. His speed is what i'm intriged about. A quick first step, bang and gone.

Gonna need a steller passrush, the secondary is still suspect.

he had 6 solo tackles and 2 sacks with a forced fumble in a game where they dropped him in coverage alot. so you are saying the scouting report on flucker was bunk but jones was right on? i am not saying that when flucker and a te were on him he didnt get pushed back. bama tried to keep a te on his side for a reason. i think he will get bigger but i hope just 10-15 lbs. i am sick of seeing woodley get one step from qb before he gets rid of it. his first two years he was getting there

yea i think fluker was way over drafted.

as for jones, time will tell. i know what teams did to JH and jones is nowhere near as strong as silverback. what will they do to him? he'll be going against tackles alot better then fluker in the nfl. he's got alot of work to do, thats all.

Could be the first debate i have had on here that made sense and ended with a sort of agreement.lol i think james had more strength but jarvis is quicker. I think alot of those holding calls james didnt get because of his height and lean jones will because of his speed.

James Harrison did 28 bench reps at his Pro Day and ran around 5 seconds in the 40. Jarvis Jones did 20 reps on the bench press and ran about the same time. A bit more strength and better technique will go a long way with Jones.

He does need more strength but all that tells me is that numbers dont matter. Jones was first round pick and dominated in the strongest conference in the land. James was undrafted i think

He probably needs to gain 10 lbs of muscle he doesn't have to start right away work him in behind Worilds.
