Does Highsmith get his starting job back when he's healthy?

Id rather roll with Herbig and Tom Sawyer and spend Highsmiths money on a WR. Highsmith is always hurt regardless.

 

The question should not be does Highsmith get his job back. The better question is will Highsmith last the 2025 Season?! That is a much more fair and honest concern.


My bet is that he doesn't given his history. For that matter, I wouldn't be surprised. Harsh I know but Alex Highsmith has shown he cannot stay healthy whatsoever. For whatever reason, the injury bug seems to get him as he is getting into form.

 

I'd rather keep all the OLB and rotate them more so guys are more fresh at the end of the game.

I think our TE room is where decisions need to be made.

[note; ESPN measures win rate as defeating a block within 2.5 secs. Same on offensive side if OL holds a block for 2.5 secs]

There's all this talk about trading Highsmith, but maybe trade Herbig instead? We can basically tell the other teams that we'd consider trading either of them, depending on offers.

What kind of draft value can we get for Herbig? We may need more draft capital to move up for our QB, and trading him will bring that capitol, especially if another team suffers a major injury at OLB before the trade deadline.

 

I haven't seen a Qb yet that I'd be willing to trade away players, and draft picks to move up , and get.

The way Herbig has been playing, only on obvious running downs do I want Highsmith in over Herbig.

Im hoping we dont lose Herbig at the expense of paying an older TJ Watt 40mil a year. Looking at this team last year, you could see we were no where close to be contenders when up against other good teams. Trying to kick the can down the road and go all in by trading for and paying these high priced free agents will only get you so far. We could have used TJ Watt money on paying Herbig and upgrading the team elsewhere like OL and a WR2. We dont even have a franchise QB, with Rodgers maybe only playing for one year before retiring.

 

Herbig is the best pass rusher on the team right now, he might have been the best pure pass rusher last year as well.
