Tomlin is far from the 'worst HC' in the league. What is most exasperating with him is that he doesn't seem to have gotten a whole lot better on his weak points over his career. Time management, challenges, stubbornness to change. He has his 'process' and he sticks with it. Fine if the results meet expectations. But when they don't then that process needs scrutiny.
Having said this, there is some progress in Tomlin finally addressing his weak points. Hiring a legitimate OC, completely remaking whole defensive units (i.e LB room, Secondary room) after a subpar season, firing coaches.

much easier to get a TD and field goal, than two TD’s that late in the game

Sean McVay is getting blasted for going for it on 4th and one in OT last night. He didn't elect to kick a 29 yard FG that would have tied it. He called a run up the middle that was stuffed and gave the 49ers the win. McVay is considered a great coach but even he made a blunder that cost his team the game. To his credit he said after the game that it was a terrible call and he cost the Rams a win or at least a tie.

    That isn’t logical

But I don’t expect you to understand

That’s like playing Russian Roulette and if you don’t get killed it’s the right decision

Winner my friend, and this is what I mean when people say certain things about our coaching, like we don't see the same things every week by coaches they think are great.

That's why I mentioned that about McVay, who is considered a great football coach. People who only watch the Steeler games are the most critical of Tomlin because he is the only coach they see make mistakes and he does make a few. But those of us that watch the entire NFL every week see much more egregious errors by other coaches on a weekly basis. Just this last week two of the medias anointed great coaches, Lefleur and McVay got ripped by their fan bases for dumb decisions in OT games.
