Wow, is he ever. He had a faster 40 than our 2nd round pick! Bell better pick up the pace if he wants to run behind Golic!

Hell, with that kind of speed with that frame, line him up in a heavy package as the HB in goal line situations!

Interesting read. At least sheds some more light on some of these guys. A couple of them could be the new Legursky.

Some great Steelers have come from UDFA's, JH, Fast Willie and the best ever Steeler from the list, the Torpedo, Donnie Shell. Im sure there are others but that's all that comes to mind at the moment.

    A couple of thoughts.

4.56 in the 40 for a 300+ pound OL! YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! And he had 31 reps @ 225 to boot. This guy Golic is a FREAK! I hope those measurables translate nicely to the football field. Sounds like he's the ideal OL for the zone blocking scheme we plan on implementing. I wonder if he can catch??? Let's line him up at TE in a couple of special packages. :hmmm:

A lot of offensive lineman were signed as UDFAs. Will make for some interesting competition come camp time.

LOL! Bleacher Report appears to have screwed up by almost a second. Per nfldraftscout, his 40 time was 5.46, not 4.56. Per a Notre Dame sports blog site it was 5.38. Links below. I'm not surprised to see Bleacher Report screw it up. They pretty much have zero clue at that organization.

Okay, I guess that makes more sense. I was getting excited there for a minute and was ready to line him up in the slot - LOL! I'm still rooting for this guy. Seems like a smart kid with a good pedigree.

Seems like I was hasty in blaming Bleacher Report. The false report is actually on the nfl.com site. I still think that the Bleacher Report folks are pretty unknowledgable, but they got the info from the "official" source, and the official source screwed it up.

i told you guys we got some good stock as BU linemen.

ferrell played well at LT and RT for penn st. .

wade played center last year but has 30 starts at G. blocking for RG3 and baylors run game the last couple of years. baylor also has the top rated G for next years draft.

madsen has 50 starts for the mountaineers at center and guard and he has some quick feet.

hubbard was a good T/G at UAB. he can move but is light at 286LBS.

ebernate looks good to me as far as mean and mobile.

yes golic was a 5.4-5.5 guy.

j.d. woods is a pretty decent receiver and great blocker.

mcneal put up great numbers as a RB at USC.

some of these guys don't have great straight line 40 times but if you look at their shuttle and cone times, they have some quickness and nimble feet to move in short area's. which is a good thing for linemen.

we have some guys that were highly productive in college at several spots on O and D. all conference guys at alot of positions. i think we did rather well, but we can't keep them all. i said a long while back we would have a team of low price FA's and alot of UDFA's this year. somebody did their homework on these guys.

I KNEW there had to be something up with that. If a linemen could move like that they would have been the first overall pick. LOL.

That's wrong too. The guy that wrote the article is, unfortunately, dyslexic. Instead of 31 reps at 225, Golic really only did 13. Oh we'll. Thought we had a fast, strong guy but what we've got is a slow weakling.

Guess that makes sense, he would have been drafted otherwise with that 40 and bench press

    Wasnt really 13 was it???

*edited* LOL, I looked it up, his bench press was 31 reps, good one Jack :lolol: 13 would have been really bad!

:roflmao:Just messing with you guys. Can you imagine having a dyslexic scout? He'd come back with 300 pound offensive lineman running 4.5 40s and 175 pound WRs doing 31 reps on the bench.

Just saw that Ivory Wade was released, he got one of the best grades in the report card link and could play several positions, guess he didn't impress during rookie camp.

the only real fault i have seen over the last couple of years from watching wade is he's a bit of a leaner. he'll make contact but won't keep driving his man. he locks on and leans on him. any type of quickness didn't jump out in his game at either G or C, but i thought it could be something they coach out of him.

i like madsen better but he has short arms. he's an intense guy though. he's a bit of a character too, which might help lighten up the lockeroom. short arms usually don't fair well in the nfl though.

we may see some other signings before it's over possibly. i like long and farrell, but they will take some time. farrell is raw, and long played in Dll. wade was a suprise though this early.

slow for as light as he is. he's only 222 lbs. to big and slow for a safety and not big enough for a LB. maybe if they beef him up some. i'm not sure if theres room either. we have guys like mcfadden, wilson, robinson, spence, sylvester, rolle, williams, baxter, carter, jones, worilds, foote and woodley. he would make 14 LB'ers in camp. even the PS will be a tough place to make it.

I'm rootin for Golic... growing up in the Philly area I remember seeing Mike Sr. play. I can't say he is a great chance of making the team though...

I am most intrigued by the RB from USC. FA RB's often seem to come out of nowhere and have good production. He came from a big-time program and was the starter before Silas came. I have to believe he has a shot to unseat someone.

i agree about mcneal. i'm ready to see this kid run. 145 carries/1,005 yards. his jr. year. that was 6.9 per. that fell off to 6.2 yards per carry his sr. year. the kid only started 4 games. his last two games when he got the starts, he went for 160+ in each of them. he's not big and he's not fast and fell in our laps.:smiley1::cool:

My guess, Red and Dwyer will both be gone before the start of 2014 season and Bell, LSH and Mcneal will be the new horses. Not sure what's to become of Batch.
