It's kind of odd because he had elite TFL numbers in years 2 and 3.

I think his issue had been staying healthy. Not unlike Herbig...Watt too.

Seems rare that we get all three of them available at the same time.

Hopefully we get Porter back soon.

I think the goal for the D this year was to be able to play tighter coverage with our CBs (at the expense of giving up a very good S) so that it would be harder for QBs to get the ball our as early as they did last year.

Three sacks heading into the bye week. Plus an INT and a FF.

Watt is rounding into form and looks good. I think he will reach double digits (assuming he stays healthy).

I am with the OP. I also no longer view TJ Watt as a dominant pass rusher though for different reasons. I just view TJ Watt as an ass kicking Defensive Player. Much like Troy, T.J. Watt is difficult to pin down in terms of what he actually is.

Common logic dictates he is an EDGE. However, T.J. Watt is so much more than that. He does literally everything imaginable. The same was for Troy; a Safety but not really a Safety.. just an ass kicker as a Defensive Player.

For context, Garrett has 4 sacks. No FFs. No INTs.

Garrett also has 8 TFLs to TJs 5.

This defense could be scary good when everyone gets healthy.

This assumes that will ever happen. They have some old dudes on that unit. They also have injury-prone ones like Highsmith.
