Analytics says either/or. Doesn't change the win probability much at all:

Whether or not he played the next season is irrelevant. You made the claim he was one of the worst in the league that year. When in fact he was perfect in the regular and post season. Granted it was a small sample size. However, that doesn’t change the fact he was perfect which makes him nowhere near the worst in the league as you claim.

i know i would have felt better being up 6 at the end of the game than only being up 3...i was yelling take the points . field position didnt help anyways since the vikings went the distance of the field in a minute thanks to the blown coverage..

I wonder if we will here from Rodgers this week about the 4th down play.

Rodgers seemed to be the leader in the decision to go for it on 4th down, but did he know the play was going to be a run up the middle from the 4-yard line?

I actually didn't mind running the ball there. Pin them on their 1-2, or win with a TD.

There was already a block FG so it's not like FGs were automatic in this game, and making them drive 99 yards, get an onside kick or drive another long field seemed safe.

The 80 yard pass against prevent D should never have happened - horrible situational football (as usual).

You have 21,356 posts on this site (and you are a supporter so I think that means you pay it money), and you still don't know what it's for?

    Public service announcement, I guess:
    • It's ok for a fan to be thrilled with a win and ignore dumb mistakes. Maybe remembering mistakes takes away their enjoyment.
    • It's ok for a fan to pick at dumb mistakes after a win. Maybe they are capable of enjoying it and asking questions or complaining at the same time. Maybe they want the team to be as good as they can be, and pushing for improvement is how they get their enjoyment. Maybe their sights are high and their goals are different. Maybe people are different.
    • It's ok to come to an online message board to discuss the details and nuances of a game when it ends.
    • It's allowed to denigrate other fans for having those discussions. But that's f**king stupid.

...It's also ok to not click on a thread at all if you don't want to read about it. But if that's not your style, keep posting telling people not to discuss football here. Keep complaining about people not enjoying their hobby the same way you enjoy your hobby. Personally, I can't imagine what drives someone to behave like that. I don't know the why behind those control issues, but I know it's pathetic.

It was about using up time. An incompletion stops the clock.

This is the one Tomlin screwed up on:

A run stop the clock if you don't make a first down on a fourth down call.....

Yeah, the model I looked up said going for it was the marginally better move until you were about 4.5 yards out. Personally, I thought analytics would favor the FG more there.

Typically I'm more aggressive in those situations, but I was for the FG there because I thought the three yards was an awkward distance.

I don't like it, and wished Tomlin stuck with his 1st instinct. I'm old school. You are ahead. Take the points when presented.

But do the analytics that say it's roughly the same if you go for it vs. kick it account for the fact that the teams that go for it from 4 yards out probably have better offenses that have more reason to be confident? You have to know your strengths and limitations. I would bet all the teams with crappy offenses would kick it for sure in that situation, and rightly so.

he went because he thinks we have the greatest defense in the league and he wanted to show it. if we made it OK but if we don't watch what i have built. i really believe that is MT's mindset.

Tomlin ran for 4+ yards out on 4th down.

The same coach lives in his fears to get inches in the same game, which would have closed the game and watched as the Steeler almost blew the lead.

    Please explain this to me.

I don't mind them going for it. Aggression will win you some games and lose you some games. That's just how it is.
What I found surprising was Rodgers advocating for them going for it and then them running it. It seemed like Rodgers wanted the ball in his hands.

Didn't hate the call to go for it, but would have gone FG personally. I had a bigger issue with the 2nd down play. If you have so much confidence in your running game that you're calling a run on fourth down then call a run on second down and keep the clock moving.

Actually, our Coach Mike Tomlin was thinking about going for the 3 point FG to make it a 2 TD difference but then caved to his brand new to the team QB. I still believe that possibly being ahead by 13 at that point in the game would have been the correct call. I also believe that you should go for it on 4th and a foot with a minute and some change with the opposing team having just one timeout left to put the game away. At the end of the day that game should have not been that close.
