The true nail was the playoff loss to the Browns. Outcoached by a HC that wasn't even on the field.

My question is, how do you conclude which coach or coaches were responsible for the development? Does Tomlin get all of the credit?

Didnt Colbert say Rudolph was 1st or 2nd round talent? Maybe the steelers turned a potential starter into a backup.

one could argue that they held Ben back as well. If he finishes his contract Tomlin might get another crack at developing another young Qb (Howard) or the future 26 draft pick.

The way the Steelers missed the playoffs in 2018 was also brutal

How was Roethlisberger held back? Dude was thrown to the wolves in 2004 as a rookie and thank the gods he was. That was not Cowher/Whisenhunt's plan. He was supposed to be 3rd string behind Maddox and Batch. Both of those QBs got hurt.... and rest is history.

Tomlin has benefited from having a franchise QB and good OC in Arians from Day 1 in 2007. Haley was a good hire... but the 2 OC's that followed were friendly, comfortable in-house hires that flopped big time. Jury is still out on Arthur Smith. How many QBs have we drafted during the Tomlin era? Dennis Dixon, Kenny Pickett, Joshua Dobbs, Landry Jones and Mason Rudolph. Rudolph and Pickett are the only ones who have won multiple games... Dobbs only had 1 or 2 with Vikings and Cardinals before washing out.

He’s been here 20 years, hes the one constant and the same problems persist.

Bucks stops with him, he’s the boss unless you dont believe in that sentiment and feel he should escape blame all the time and everyone else is at fault.

To each their own I guess.

I never said he was a bad OC. I did say that he was a better head coach than OC.

No, you can’t argue they held Ben back. The only argument about holding Ben is they held on too long.

Re Ben, Im taking from 2011 on. Besides Haley, who had a difficult relationship with Ben, who did we have as OC who was worth anything?

then you have the post LeBeau rabble of DC’s and Tomlin's stellar penchant for post season prep and success, just wondering if we didnt get the most out of Ben’s prime years.

Biggest problem with Arians is he was getting Ben killed but I never was onboard the FBAI train. It was some guy on the old message board where that acronym was born by the way, cant remember who that was.

Arians had too much hate at that time.....Yes he deserve some blame for the sacks but for the rest, much of the payroll at that time was on the great defense and the oline were poor

Also it was not a automatic punt under him when the steelers was on 3rd down and 10 or longer. Our offense was also better that Haley come playoffs time but to be fair to Haley, injuries was a killer in some playoffs game

Player, and coaches are only good, or bad as it pertains to how they can take away from, or blame Tomlin, and Rooney. Haven't you realized this yet???
That's my favorite thing in baiting the Tomlin haters, they are so inconsistent, You can catch them with there own words.

    LoL. Exaggerating a bit???
I have never said Tomlin wasn't at fault.
I will say this for the 5 millionth time. Just because I don't like someone, I don't have to make up crap about it.
I don't like thieves, but that don't make them drug using, murdering rapist. I've never felt the need to do such, to try , and add stuff , and I have always wondered about people that felt the need to do such things.
Yes He is part of the problem of not getting over the hump, but that doesn’t make Him the Owner, GM, OC, and DC play caller, a Ventriloquist, non believer in technology, and the freaking scout of the team.

I actually think Canada was the only bad OC, and I tried, and tried telling people this when He was hired. I believe the rest were fine, not awesome, but fine.
I will use the same thing I said when everyone that somehow is now in Love with Lebeau, that during his last two year wanted him fired, but now they somehow have forgotten that......You can't call plays that the players can't do.

4 seasons out of 18 with a playoff win.

He's living off the fumes of a team from 15 years ago.

The most prolific offenses in the Tomlin era were under Haley's time as OC.

The funnest offense to watch was BA's.
