Bucs finish their last home series with 2 consecutive shutouts and a final home record of 44-37. They lead MLB with 19 SO wins not to mention 24 1 run wins (but 33 1 run losses - leader in MLB). The team batting average hovering around the Mendoza level certainly didn't help much.

Good news, Konnor Griffin just won Minor League POY and never even sniffed AAA ball. Congrats young man. Hope you can hit the curve ball as you advance next year.

Bucs went out in style their last home game. 6 games left. Win half and finish with 70 wins.

    As always, thanks Bob.

1 more win and those bombers of the Burgh win 70 whole games. Steelers can't do that. Penguins can't do that. ;)

    Thanks Bob!

Hopefully, by this time next week, they Bucs will be setting up interviews to replace Travis Williams, Cherington, and possibly Kelly. No offense to Kelly, who has done a pretty good job, but if I'm a new GM, I might want to bring in my own manager.

Knowing Nutting, he'll promote one of the Ass't. GM's and not back fill the spot, thus saving a salary.

Are you saying you know Nutting? Wasn't that a political party once in the past? :lolol:

I must be high. Bucs only have 69 wins and I talked about it in another thread, a wrong thread for it:facepalm::facepalm:

No 100 games winner in MLB this season. I think if Brewers sweep it would be 99.

70-90. 2 exciting games to go. I predicted 78 wins on another board.

I'm sure come next March I'll have unrealistic hopes for the 2026 season.

Horwitz had a fine game yesterday.
I checked some numbers, it is not what you’d like from your first baseman but much better than anyone since Josh Bell in 2019. After him, it was the rent-a-first-baseman era, with Carlos Santana and Rowdy Tellez and the like, with near zero WARs.

98 at most after Friday. Still, no one predicted them being best in MLB this year. Must be Front Row Amy spinning all that joy and good luck for them this season. I think she took a few years off.

Going to the final game of season tomorrow ! I'm a day late and would of loved to see Chandler pitch. Looking forward to $15 Hot dogs and a Bucco win to finish on a high note. Im sure the lineups will be full of Mendoza line hitters. All the scrubs will be playing.

Chandler pitched a good game last night. You'll see Oviedo. Hope you see a win.

Cherington has two years left on his contract. Nutting may eat one year but not two. I think Cherington is safe through most of 2026. Kelly has shown himself to be competent imho, but has not had the horses. I don’t think Earl Weaver or Casey Stengel could have got much more out of this lineup.

    71-91 ya frigging hoo.

Sad knowing Pirates will suck yet again in 2026 and once again waste good pitching.

I'd say go Pens but their gonna suck too.

On another note, I see that the Bucs extended Don Kelly as manager for 2026. This action tells me that Cherington will hang on as GM. Not that I was an advocate for firing Kelly (I'm not), but this would seem to cement that Cherington will also return, which is a huge mistake IMHO.

The recent Ken Rosenthal report that Cherington is under contract for 2 more years, if true, will mean that they will not compete for any type of post-season status for the entirety of the Paul Skenes era and leave Cherington in control when it comes time to trade Skenes. Man, I really hope I am wrong about this!

This could be a fatal blow to a franchise that needs to negotiate a new deal to stay in PNC. Nashville anyone?
