    Last years draft was interesting:
DeCastro, great pick lucky to get him
    Adams, Interesting story
    Spence, had potential
    Ta'Amu, good story
This years draft to me, yeah serviceable picks, yawn

I think because a lot of the positions/etc and even some of the players were expected picks...that even though some of us may not like we seen them coming. DeCastro wasn't expected to fall last year like Jones did this year. Adams there in the 2nd was a stretch too...same with Ta'amu in the 4th. Some years its hard to guess and such. But I think certain players/positions were driven into our heads this year sooo much more that it made it a little uneventful at times.

I like this draft a lot better then last Yeats plus there are a bunch of stories here. Shamarko Thomas parents died within 9 months of each other his sophomore year and he has 5 younger siblings. Jones brother asked him if he minded if he went out fir his birthday and Jones said yeah no problem and his bro was shot down that night. I like the high character guys they went after thus year.

This draft certainly feels different to last years - last year the optimism around here was unbounded, this year it seems a lot more muted. But that's to be expected - last year we fixed holes that had been glaring to us for years, like the o-line and the ILB position. It was like: fix these positions, and we're certain to be superbowl contenders. It was genuinely exciting - like when we drafted Roethlisberger, in fact.

This year: it's more like we need to fill certain holes, we know that our first round pick may be sitting on the bench for at least a year, and the acquisition of Wheaton is to fill the spot left by another player, rather than adding a new dimension.

Still, I like our picks overall. Bring on minicamp!

Not for me, I'm much more excited about this draft then last year. I was very happy to be fixing the line last draft but to me drafting offensive lineman is boring. Don't get me wrong, I think it's the heart and sole of the team and what makes everything else go but it's boring. This year though, pass rush specialist EXCITING, monster athletic rb EXCITING, an electric versatile tough wr EXCITING a play anywhere heat seeking missile saftey EXCITING! After pick 4 my enthusiasm drops off. I like Landry at his position, I think he can be a good player I just think it was too soon to address it. Vince Williams I am hoping proves to be the next nasty on the team and that Justin Brown can turn into the big wideout I've coveted for a while now. Hawthorne and Nic Williams, meh, to be fair though, have to study up on them a little but at first glance, doesn't do much for me.

Agreed Blast. I'm actually looking forward to seeing what Vince Williams can bring to the table. From what i've seen of him he has the potential to be that nasty LB we all love. As long as Jones stays healthy i think we have a freaking machine at ROLB. Wheaton looks to be a great pick and possibly an improvement over Wallace, and I can't wait to see Bell run over a few ratbirds! I'm really liking this draft.

Yeah, if anything this draft was all about skill positions and splash plays...don't see how that can be a yawn draft compared to one where we drafted 2 OL and a NT with our first 4 picks.

This is pretty much how I feel about this draft. I love the first pick. I don't know much about Bell but like his size. First thing I thought of was Eddie George. I also don't know much about Wheaton but the interview that was posted on this Board has turned me into a huge fan. I looked at Shamarko's size and at first was like 5'8"? WTF. Then I saw that was 5'8" 217lbs and I thought, o crap he is going to pummel some people.

On Vince Williams, Steelers.com highlighted him as a special teams player so I hope he brings some fire to that unit.
