Do you think the Steelers will ever have another shutout? The Steelers have had 44 total shutouts in their history. The last one was Dec. 24, 2011 against St.Louis Rams. The 1976 Pittsburgh Steelers had 5 shutouts in their last 9 games of a 14 game season while out scoring the opponents 234 - 28. They never made it to the Super Bowl losing to the Raiders in the AFCCG 24-7.

I think there was only one shut out in the whole NFL last year. It's getting rarer, and rarer.

My answer is no, because Mike Tomlin is "Playing in his Fears" and will have the defense go immediately to a bend-don't-Break when the Steelers have the lead. Dropping everyone back and allowing the opposing team to move between the 20s and kick easy FGs.

Yep. Gooddell really ruined defense in the NFL. It’s a shame defenses can’t play aggressively anymore like they used to.

No but this is not a big deal....Andy has only 1 shut out in his career in like 400 career games as head coach and it was a playoffs game.

To me it would take another weather game like the Miami hurricane 3-0 shutout but then the game would get cancelled and reschedule for a beautiful afternoon delight.

I agree, but that's not what the kids want to see. So they changed it. I've said a million times, if I could pick a score for us , it would be 17 -3 , but the kids today want 40 something to 40s something . LoL

A offense need to be awful or depleted by injuries to be shut out in the current NFL...Also the kicker are better and better, one more reason this is harder

No, but it would be tough for any team to have a shutout. New rules and FG kickers are getting very good.

There is probably money involved in that decision for the NFL.

Think of it this way.....what sells jerseys on the defensive side of the ball? Interceptions and sacks. How often does that happen? Not very often. Those stats are a result of skill, luck and being in the right place at the right time. There is not much you can do to influence that........but on the other side of the ball, passes thrown, catches made and big runs can sell jerseys. You can influence those plays a lot more easily on offense than you can on defense with rules.

Data is not easily available on NFL money, so here is some information from years that I can find:

The NFL made 150+ million from jersey sales in 2022. This was an 18% increase from the previous year (what AI popped up anyways). I don't know if this is the total sales, or the NFL's cut from jersey sales......but with reports that Shadeur Sanders has sold 250 million in jerseys, it might actually be the NFL cut. That is an insane amount of money coming from jerseys.

Data is scarce, but a few things I found lead me to believe that the NFL sells millions of jerseys every year, and that is just jerseys. It does not include all of the other stuff they sell. Jerseys run from the low 100s to $350 on the NFL website.

There is a buttload of money in NFL paraphernalia sales. So you can bet that good ole Roger Goodell will seek to make adjustments to the game if it will increase revenue at those kinds of nosebleed levels from selling coffee mugs and shirts with a name on them.

Yes, I mean forever in time. They are so rare anymore with how much the game has changed and all the teams being on such an equal playing ground.

With the way the team is playing on both sides of the ball, and the general Steeler plan to grind things out, I can see the Steelers being shut out before they shut anyone else out. Last years Eagle's defense would probably shut us out and pull out at least 6 sacks against the way we played the first two games.

As long as we have Boz, I don’t fear a shut out.
