Just one example of Tomlin's poor decision making. He has no clue when to take risks and when to not take risks.

Agreed. Holcomb is more of a thumper like what Elandon Roberts was.

With better preparation we couldve beaten a mediocre seahawks team at home. Lack of knowledge on kickoffs and a poor route killed us, although the defense was not good enough to help overcome those mistakes. With better coaching we might be a 9-10 win team. As is, i think we’re staring at a losing season.

Interesting enough, there was a series in the RZ where Wilson was yanked and they put Holcomb in.

Tomlin appears to be suffering from Russell Wilson's disease.... Mr. Positivity

He also said he thought the run D was much improved. He has truly lost his mind.

Walker had over 100 rushings yards on like 13 runs!

Thank god the other seahawks RB had 10 yards on 15 runs!

If we had hot black and gold cheerleaders that would be #2.

I was surprised to hear that fact, so I looked.
124 yards. ~3.4 yards per carry and I am still surprised.

Arthur Smith is supposed to be a ground guy to set play-action.

Even more surprising is Yards before contact.
Warren is 3.4 (exactly what his yds/carry is) which is 6th ranked?!
He's ranked #2 in explosive run rate (Warren does squirm out of tackles ans can break off big runs)
And he's ranked #6 is success rate.

    Gainwell is around ~2.7 yds/contact.

It almost indicates the O-line is doing it's job.
But they only have 37 carries.
I think they are somewhere near 50/50 pass to run?

We have a 3rd down conversion rate of 40% (Ranks 18th)
Ravens 50.5% and Bengals 46.7% are converting better.

I have to admit, Smith's offense isn't what I expected so far.
But then again, there's a lot of room for improvement on O-Line.
The TE's aren't involved as much as I anticipated.

And as mentioned, our WR's are less than adequate.
Metcalf despite the 4 drops, has 74 YAC and 5 1st downs. That's not tearing up the stats but he is doing his job. I think he stands out more as there really is no one picking up the other side.
Calvin Austin is not commanding any doubles.
At this point, Roman Wilson can't even get on the field.

Since Rogers has 7 sacks, I think the O-line is a problem. We can't have 3.5 sacks per game and our run game should be around 250 yds and we have to get that 3rd down conversion to near 50% and even strive for better which means keep away from 3rd and long. Currently we average 3rd and 6.9 yards - again indicative of a weak run game and/or play selection.

One of the problem for the steelers offense since several years is not their 3rd down%,this is the fact they are too often on 3rd down, one of the most in the NFL on almost every year

That's why they ranked so high in total plays on offense despite having a lousy offense, it's because they never get anywhere on 1st and 2nd down.

They gave up 182 yards rushing to the Jets, but it was about 70 yards less to the Seahawks.

I will say 3-4 of those sacks are on Rodgers holding the ball too long.

    I've been looking at All22.
He admits to 2 sacks - said he was stiff and ran into those 2.
He admits to holding the ball too long - number is unspecified. But as we recall, in GB he could moved around in the pocket all day as those guys could block.
In all22, I could find 3 where nobody was open, and he even tries rolling under pressure to buy time but our receivers with the exception of Metcalf, do not understand the scramble drill and don't flow towards the QB nor to open space.

Broderick Jones was directly responsible for 3 of the 4 sacks in week 1. Pretty much all 3, Rogers had a defender in his lap right away.
So I am kind of mixed.
We are in no way to be confused or even in the same century as those GB lines were. I found a stat where Rogers had 25 seconds to make a play! It was a TD pass.
Our line is currently ranked 22nd. Zak Frasier is largely responsible for the grade being as high as it is as he is ranked #3 (Centers)

He was getting bulldozed by their fullback. Tomlin emphasizing LB coverage over hitting is killing us.

This...I know there are dynamics we will never know, how much influence he has on the players drafted/selected to bring to camp, but in the end this team is on him. Not another fire MT thread, just observation of what the team does and his responses both in pressers and continuing results on the field. Time will tell if any of this works, but he is sounding more like a men who have lost vision of where the league is today and is unable or refusing to adapt.

I think the reason for so few carries is they havent had favorable game scripts yet. Defense is just getting throttled.

How can I get rid of the ads on this site? It's annoying to have to clear off ads every time I go to the next page of a thread
