Well since we were in a AFC Championship in 2017, we have a bit till the decade talk, and I believe we won playoff games to get there, so all the guys that harp on just winning a Playoff game should have been happy. I for one wasn't, because winning a playoff game is not a biggie to me. Getting to the playoffs is, and getting to a SB is.
I can't really see all this hair pulling out over one loss. JMO

I'm avoiding the Fields thread like you avoided the Parsons thread when you underestimated his impact at the time of the trade.

The Packers are a top two team in the NFC along with the Eagles if they stay healthy, and Parsons will be a big reason why.

    LoL
Making stuff up are we?? Why would I care about Parsons. I said what I thought, but I didn't make a thread about him, and fill it with stuff every day......LoL. I could care less about him, He doesn't play for the Steelers, He didn't come to the Steelers, He never played for the Steelers , and I didn't think I was smarter than the Steelers for not keeping him, and I sure dont remember making a Thread about him, like someone I know.....So you are Reaching.....,but you must reach a little farther, but Im sure Your used to that. LoL.

Ok, if this season continues to run off the rails it will be the 9th straight season w/o even a playoff win (or even putting up a legit fight in a playoff game). So touche on the “decade.” It’s nearly a decade of futility.

The complaints you’ve read on the board about the franchise’s leadership have been made for a very long time, not just after one game. The start to this season is just the latest disappointment. This looked to be a promising season, but so far the entire team is swirling in a toilet, reaching out for a lifeline to avoid the final flush of 2025.

When it’s that bad across the board, it’s evidence of failure at the top.

Just curious...why did this seasoning look promising?

What were the things that made it seem any different than the last few years?

Fair question. To me the roster looked much better than last year’s team that crash landed into the playoffs. So much experience on defense plus a QB who understands how to distribute to the right guys. I had no delusions of contending for a championship, but I expected a solid season and at least being a hard out in the playoffs.

Could that all still happen? Maybe, but it looks really, really grim. Right now, at this moment in time, the Steelers are legitimately one of the worst teams in the league.

My expectations were very low this year(It was a 9-8 season in my prediction before this season, link below at the post 3)...I've seen this movie from the steelers too much in the last few years...It's one of the only times I wasn't excited before the season start

    Interesting the contrasting perspectives.

I figured they would win a low of 6 and a high of 10 with a wild card out as the most advanced outcome.

Long story short, this is still a really flawed roster at key spots and it is far too much to ask of all the 1 and 2 year players along the OL and DL to be the fixes. The preseason hype around this team was astounding in how out of control it got - imho.

We will see in a handful of weeks I guess.

So let me get this straight, we are swirling the toilet after a 1-1 season??? LoL.
It's funny we have people on here that say after a 11-0 start we sucked, and now after a 1-1 start we suck. I believe no matter what happens, some people will say we suck.

It's not a fair question. He was asking about some seasoning, and you responded with football.

    Hey @S.T.D@S.T.D

I heard Coach Tomlin and his wife are dining out at Ruth's Chris tonight. Rumor has it Tomlin's steak was severely over cooked. If you hurry you still have time to get down there and give the chef what for.

Yes... because our defense was top 10 (at worst) during that time.

So far, the Steelers lost to two teams... one average, at best, and the other garbage, yes that would be the Jets.

In both games... several patterns were evident. No pass protection, no running game, no stopping the run, and giving up big pass plays.

If we continue that putrid level of play... every quality team we play will walk away with blowouts wins against us.

With the porous protection of the OL, I don't expect Aaron will not make it past the Stains in week 6.

Mike Tomlin will remain despite suffering his first losing season... only because the Rooney's are too cheap to move passed a coach that hasn't won anything significant in the last 16 years and moving toward two decades.

They won all their Super Bowls under Dan Rooney I believe. Did he not take over in the 70’s?
