agreed - his explosive 60 - 70 yard play was the ONE bright spot on offense all day.

#4 did not show up till the 2nd half. those 2 drops i the first half hurt.

warren ran hard in general, just no holes, as usual.

He was awesome. Too bad there were only maybe 3 players to choose from. Friermuth, Ramsey and possible slay were the other players that sort of showed up today. Collectively they were a heaping pile of trash especially the coaches.

He was maybe the lone bright spot besides Boz.

Makes you wonder why they didn’t give Najee 2 years guaranteed and over pay him

(For some reason I enjoy saying that)

Warren had some nifty moves on the 65 yard play

(and I don’t just throw around the word nifty all the time)

Way to go, Jaylen! Seems to be very aware of his ball security too. :thumbs up:

I rewatched the 65 yard play

When he was first hit he was holding the ball like he was protecting a new born baby

    I thought good

Then when he broke loose he looked like he was carrying the babies dirty diaper

Nobody said they should do that, but hey, if it makes you happy to argue with straw men, go for it.

I certainly never wanted them to give him an extension. My argument was always that it was a mistake to pass on the option. Squeeze one more season out of the duo of Harris and Warren, then move on from Harris. I guess you enjoy watching them waste touches and carries on Gainwell.

I am encouraged by what I saw from Warren Sunday, but he still only carried the ball 12 times.

It would help if the offensive line didn't suck.

Wish he had a couple more nifty moves to reach the end zone. Game turned after that Austin screw up.

Warren is a player. Well deserved in my opinion.

Now if there was only some sort of position or set of positions that could knock 1 or 2 of the opposing teams guys out of his path...

My bad. I forgot how he got that average per carry under 4.0 for a second consecutive start.

Did you notice Harris got more touches than Hampton last night? It was just one more, but he was the one closing the game out because Hampton fumbled. But sure, Gainwell is just as good. lol

I was just watching the play again--I know everything is happening very quickly, but it's a shame Austin didn't see the defender running up behind him--the guy that tackled Warren. Would have been an easy block if he had. Also--not scoring after that was terrible. Reminded me of Pickett days; the defense would return a pick or fumble to like the 2-yard line and I'd be like "Well, at least we should get a field goal out of this!" Not saying we are THAT bad, but it did give me flashbacks.

Yea, Austin with two gaffes on that possession. The second one (INT in the EZ) is all about understanding not only your assignment but what your teammates are doing on the play as well. It appeared to be a designed play to Muth in the back of the EZ.

Yup. He broke the wrong way when Rodgers started to scramble.

Gainwell isn’t replacing Harris, hes taking on the backup roll to Warren.

I never claimed Gainwell was as good as Harris. Come on man, be better.

That response implies that you know Gainwell is worse than Harris, which means the team is worse off than it was last season. The Steelers primarily use two backs. Someone other than Warren was going to get a significant number of snaps. That was Harris. Now it is Gainwell. That was the exchange no matter how much you may wish it was not. It made the team worse. They could have easily kept Harris and simply given Warren more opportunities if they thought he was better. Instead, they messed up and weakened the team.

I have brought this up several times, but haven't directly asked you about it yet. If Warren was going to have an expanded role and get more snaps this year, which would you rather see him do? Keep the snaps in passing situations and get more opportunities on first and second down or get most of his opportunities on first and second down and cede the passing situations to another back? Given how he excels in the passing game, the former seems ideal to me, but perhaps you prefer the team being less explosive and having a weaker blocker picking up blitzes on third-and-long situations.
