Week 2:Seattle Seahawks(0-1)

Lets hope the defense is motivated to not allow so many points after that week 1 performance.

 

Seahawks tough on road just can't win at home. Rodgers started off like gangbusters in the first game last season then Denver came in and ate his lunch as a 9 point dog.

 

I have to agree with him. Of course it's too early to know for freaking sure.

 

Both Nick Emmanwori and Devon Witherspoon have not practiced this week. Starting safety Julian Love has gone from Limited Participation on Wednesday to DNP on Thursday. In addition, their other starting CB, Tariq Woolen, is apparently in the doghouse.

Seahawks might draw up some plays for Milroe this week. If they watched us struggle with Fields running last week, it would make sense to do that. Also, if he comes in and we adjust to stop the run, could open up a receiver. We had trouble with zone passing last week as well.

 

It will be a very long season for the defense if it happen....Like 2021 again

I hope Smith does better with the run schemes. Having an effective run would help manage the pass rush by keeping out of 3rd and long.

Outside zone: 8 attempts, 11 yards (1.4 ypc)

Duo: 6 attempts, 19 yards (3.2 ypc)

Inside zone: 3 attempts, 19 yards (6.3 ypc)

Kenneth Walker though is more of a bruising North/South Runner whereas Breece Hall has Feature Back ability. Breece has been banged up though; hence his supposed lack of ability... something that simply isn't true. I do agree though regardless.


No matter what type of Running Back the Steelers Face, Gap Discipline and Fundamental Tackling will decide if Walker goes on a tear or not

 

Considering how the team has done with Gap Based Run Blocking, I would hope for that to continue. Given Arthur Smith's background though for being a heavy Zone Based Rushing Attack however, I doubt that is going to happen. Arthur Smith doesn't seem like the OC who is willing to adapt his schematics from a blocking perspective to achieve success.


I would be happy to be wrong of course. Time to find out for the remainder of the season if that is to be believed.

 

Need to stop the run and protect Rodgers.

 

I initially pushed back against @Blast Furnace and others for thinking that Darnell Washington would be converted to tackle. Given how little he was used in Week 1, should this continue, I would not be surprised if the team elected to convert Darnell Washington to OT and see what they would have. I still very much doubt that this will happen as Pittsburgh Scouts are heavily scouting OTs this College Season but one never knows.


Given Tomlin's track record, it wouldn't surprise me if Darnell Washington would convert. I still see Darnell as so much more than a blocking Tight End but the likes of Arthur Smith and Mike Tomlin don't appear to feel the same way thus far. Time will tell for the remainder of the 2025 NFL Season.

 

I would put that as optimistic, but MT had to be embarrassed after last weeks showing. Have no idea how that shows on the field, but going from the statement 'historic defense' to what was shown on the field has got to burn him, lol.

I think be week 3 or 4 if there is not improvement something will have to be done. If he even makes it that far, Aaron can't take that kind of punishment.
