I get that we are trying to do a committee approach, but Warren is a good bit better than Gainwell (and does a lot of the things Gainwell brings to the table well). I would have liked to have seen 3-4 of KG's touches go to Warren, but it's fine I guess. I know the average at around 3.5 isn't what we're used to seeing from Warren, but he at least got involved in the passing game with two nice catches (one of which ended in a TD) and converted his 3rd and short opportunity into a first down in the redzone.

I'm sure there will be an emphasis on running it better against Seattle in the home opener. Warren is just too good of a runner to have long stretches of inefficiency. I have faith that we will turn it around.

This is classic Arthur Smith player management. He did this regularly in Atlanta. Had Bijan and would feed Allgeier.

Still, Warren got 11 carries and he only broke 10 carries a game about 6 times last season. He gets an additional 4 more carries a game and he’ll be right where I expect him to be. I think his sweet spot should be 15-20 a game.

I agree. Maybe they were just managing his workload early in the season because he got so little work in the preseason, but one of my concerns about Sunday was how little he played and how often we saw Gainwell out there.

Interesting that the point differential for the 4 AFC North teams yesterday was a grand total of 4. Parity, right? ;)

Maybe Heyward should've worked more in training camp instead of whining about how underpaid he is, he looks out of shape.

It doesn't help when the DL is getting pancaked.

Ever hear of the salary cap? They drafted Najee in the first round and had Warren they weren't going to pay Henry 8-10 a year.

Because Benton isn't a NT he can't handle double teams.

Nope, but Black is. Heyward-Black-Benton should work, provided Buddha ever gets his selfish ass in game shape.

I don't know why the oldest CB got stuck covering the Jets best WR.

We're not used to seeing Warren average 3.5 because he was the backup, and not the bell cow RB.

Teams are going to try to create those matchups. Speed wasn't the only problem. He needs to react more quickly at the snap, which he did last year with the Eagles.

My guess would be communication is not as good as it should be at this point with so many new pieces but that's just a guess. I have not watched the all 22

GEEZZZZ brother, you can't complain about TEs getting used, and having no number 2 wr, and then say you have to target one wr often.

None of them played a meaning snap in a month and a half. OK maybe 75% of them because Wilson saw a lot of pre game action but Watt, Highsmith, Heyward, Queen, Elliot, JPJ, Ramsey. Herbig injured, Harmon injured, Benton on a predetermined snap count. It was a classic Mike Tomlin prepared season opener. Meanwhile the Jets looked like they spent the last month getting ready for the game and having a plan down cold.

Track the defensive formation during those runs. I was seeing a lot of subpackage 2DL formations on run plays and when they went to base 3-4 the Jets passed and attacked the weak spots in the zone.

Interesting theory if there was any substance to it why didn't they keep Harris?

I think its 15-18 touches. If he can get 13-14 carries and 3-4 catches, that would be a good workload. Enough to get our best back the ball regularly, but not too much that we ask him to do more than he's ever done before. Gainwell is a fine enough back up (and likely a quality 3rd down back), but Jaylen is a 3 down player that could benefit from getting a bit more consistency in his snaps. Not having him on the field is quite detrimental to what we are trying to do.
