Pitt thrived well after passing on Paterno's idea, which failed for many reasons. That is not why the program is a mess despite the false narrative spread by Paterno and his disciples.

Paterno's inability to get past Pitt not kissing his ass played a big role in killing what was a great rivalry. Penn State's arrogance killed it, too. They wanted two games in State College for every one in Pittsburgh, which was never going to fly. It was the same arrogance that led to the institutional failure that was the Sandusky situation.

I write all this as someone who grew up a Penn State fan. I used to buy into the narrative about the goodness and greatness of Joe Paterno. Then I grew up.

Although I like their team and think they can win that division over Kansas City.

    I always liked JoPa....
I know a story very well about an opposing QB who got knocked out on the sideline at Joe's feet.
It was the end of the QB's career.
Joe said some encouraging words to the player as he was carted off the field.
I really hated that mess that happened. Really, really hated it.

6 pages (sort of) about "Archie" Manning in the Steelers section but "Betting on the Steelers" sits in the general NFL section. Costanza!

Back to Paterno. Favorite chant during rivalry week -

I say Jopa you say Turno
    Jopa Turno
    Jopa Turno
    Joe Paterno sucks!

Does Texas get scores from punts?? Because last time I looked it was 28 -7 Texas. They better not let them do that when we play them this year.

Even today Arch looks as every bit of a raw recruit than either Trevor Lawrence or even Caleb Williams ever did.

Say what you will about either but neither had to wait to get their shot as True Freshman; one winning the Heisman and the other transforming a program that was long overdue a needed shake up.

Arch has done neither thus far; all the more reason that Arch will be returning in 2027. He had his shot to be that guy against Ohio State and blew it. While Matt Patricia was the one making calls, Arch has to be better than what he displayed that day; today being that day coincidentally.

    He has not.

    Ah. I see.

Taylen Green has a good shot to make some good money again today. For that matter, I expect him to today. Next week though will be a good test for him.

Provided he plays well against Ole Miss?! He will place himself squarely in the Top 5 for the 2026 QB Class. Klubnik is very close to getting bounced out for me and Arch isn't ready. Drew Allar has been disappointing thus far and Fernando had the bounce back game as I knew he would.

I said last year on here that people that didn't know Taylen Green now , would next year. Plus all Qbs under Bobby P in college do better their 2nd year with him. I hate the idea of him as a HC, but he is an awesome OC. I kinda wish the Steelers would look at him as a OC, but when I brought it up 3 years ago, everyone on here was totally against it.

?! You were impressed by Taylen Green as well?!

I have been impressed with him since his Sophomore Season at Boise State! :drinks:

If he can continue to improve his accuracy, anticipation, pocket presence and pocket poise?! Book him for Round 1.

    He did.

The timing of the post is what makes it confusing. That said, Arch's start to the game was.... frustrating to say the least. Ended on a good note but quite a bit of missed opportunities for him.

As I said before and will again; Arch isn't declaring.

Just saw some highlights, threw a bad pick. Did some good things too, obviously.

I agree, he’s not coming out this year.

My guy Drew wasn’t so good today but still flashed that arm talent.

Yeah.... Drew is dangerously coming close to being booted off my Top 5 at the moment. Penn State should have blown FIU off the field; doubly so through the air. It didn't happen and Allars accuracy was very spotty today.

Villanova is up next for Drew. If he cannot perform well there?!.... well...

Taylen Green 4 tds passes, 2 ints, and 1td run.
That's 10 td passes, 1 td run, and 2 ints for the season.
He's sitting watching the back up now.
