How many injuries do you think Warren sustained in 2024 :lolol:

He had a knee injury. And that is pretty much the extent of his entire injury history in 3 seasons.

Well, he's not technically the cheaper of the two... as he makes more money than Najee now. It seems like they want to keep him around and are hedging the money bet on a guy they were set to have hit FA at the end of the year. If Warren turns out to be really good as the starter, he will be a steal at his AAV. Even if he isn't the next RB1, then we obviously still want him on the team and getting touches as the 3rd down RB and rotational back. Even if his role changes none, it means that he'd be the highest paid rotational back that isn't David Montgomery and if he's a top 15 RB then he's a good value. Not bad. Warren is choosing the security of the term over betting on a huge year with no injuries for his contract. Can't say I blame him. Playing on a one year deal as a RB is very risky.

I hope that Johnson is worth giving the ball to more and more over the year as well. It means that we didn't miss on our draft pick, and every team in today's NFL really should have 2 quality backs unless you have one of the 5 elite backs. I'm sure we will see a rotation of some sort anyways since Arthur Smith seems to prefer that. Time will tell.

Didn't he hurt his hands? He sure fumbles too much.

Funny how they never started Warren and kept giving him fewer touches than Harris even though you think they liked him better. I guess they chose not to put their best team on the field the last two seasons.

But not enough to start him even when he was healthy at the end of last season.

If they were doling out snaps and touches last season based on draft pedigree, they are idiots. Do you really think they are that stupid?

Technically no, but if they wanted to keep Najee it was going to cost them a multiyear deal with more guaranteed money, they were smart to let him walk. Warren you could sign for an extension thats very team friendly and not hard to move on from. I actually think the Steelers liked Najee more because they could of easily put Warren into his role if they wanted but they chose not too, which is also why they took Kaleb Johnson. I would argue that Johnson is more likely to be Najee's replacement than Warren. But who really knows, all that matters now is Warren is the guy and I want him to be awesome.

Warren was more explosive of the two, but Najee had better ball security and just as good at pass protection.

You didn't read the link from Fox Sports?!

I am not talking about games missed. I am talking about injuries sustained, as a whole, during the 2024 season.

    Well deserved. Congrads to Warren.

For the rookie, I think he'll have plenty of opportunity to earn his stripes.
The depth chart for this position on the Steelers team is just a empty line that has to be filled in for the reporters.
    Kaleb will get reps.

I need to see what Dulac's game picks are and bet a ton on the opposite of what he says. I'll be wealthy by the end of the season. He has been wrong on everything Steeler related.

Dude they listed the same injury 3 times. The only other one was the back in week 11 which just had him questionable.

There isn’t a single football player that doesnt have something going on with them.

None of that paints Warren as some kind of injury prone player and as I pointed out, he got a 5 out of 5 for durability.

Harris has a more extensive injury history than Warren does.

If Warren has the same injury three times over, he clearly was fighting through that level of pain then. My point isn't that Warren is injury prone. My point was that Warren was more banged up last season.

That is it. Nothing more to it than that.

Not that I saw reported. Knee injury that kept him out two games and some back soreness that he played through.

As far as fumbles, @Steelersfan43@Steelersfan43 just posted a link on this, he actually fumbles less than the league average. People think he fumbles a lot because of that two fumble game so now he’s stuck with that label and he’ll probably never shake it just like DJ never shook the drops label even know he was routinely among the league leaders in least dropped passes each year.

Warren threw up the peace sign that one time and his fingers hit the ceiling fan.
Low hanging ceiling fan but so were the balls he fumbled them times.

He fumbles a lot relative to his touches on the football. That is how you should judge it. Every player has averages on fumble %.

I think Warren is the 12-15th best back in football. His yards per carry and yards per catch is good. He produces many big plays over 10 yards... the type that leads to scores.

Now if Art Smith can use him correctly and run him wide more often, particularly in the two or three tight end sets ...

The man is fairly fast and quick. He can beat most DL and LB's to the edge.

He goes down a bit easy, but at the same time is a + type of pass blocker.

I just read Joel Buchsbaum's response to this post. Did you really not adjust for number of touches when you compared Warren to other backs? He is right. If you didn't adjust for touches, your statistic is not valid.

Another reason it looks as if Warren fumbles a lot is in comparison to Harris, who is one of the best in the game at taking care of the football.

That doesn't answer the point in either of those posts. Harris was the better back the last three years. The way the Steelers used both backs proves it.

That wasnt the topic, it’s who the Steelers liked and wanted and they clearly wanted Warren over Harris.
