According to some people on here, if a QB is not drafted in the first round then he will be terrible. Top 5 pick for a QB is an absolute must. Will Howard doesn’t stand a chance. Should just trade him before draft day in PGH next year in order to try and get a top 5 pick.

 

From what I read it’s just a consensus that drafting higher increases your odds of getting a good one

Yeah I have a wait and see attitude with Arch. This was only his 3rd career start and it was his first game ever on the road. The fact that it was against the National champions with probably 10 future NFL players on defense added to the difficulty.

 

Knowledgeable fans aren't expecting the Steelers to trade into the top 5 for a QB it's too costly, getting into the top 12 is more likely. Just a reminder Denver got Bo Nix at #12 last year and made the playoffs.

 

If there are 5 or 6 First round QBs which I believe will be the case they are not all going in the first 5/6 picks. Like you said we just need to get around that 10 allot to get one which with our draft capital is doable.

 

Arch will get the same treatment this season as did Shedeur Sanders last season by the talking heads that want to tell all of us if he's going to be a good NFL QB or not. Be ready for the constant chatter and debate.

I have posted previously that Arch will not leave college at the end of this season. I don't really know anything about that, just my gut feeling on it.
1. College reps are very important.
2. Texas can get nearly any player they want. Can Arch keep the starting QB job?
3. He has to win. He will have the players. He will have the coaches.

We made the playoffs with Mason, Trubisky and Pickett. Doesn't make them good.

 

I don't know where some fans come up with that top 5 crap, I was never expecting the Steelers to get one of the top 2 QBs.

 

Nix kept his job and is considered their franchise QB and didn't get benched like those three guys, he threw 29 TDs his rookie year those three guys combined didn't do that big difference don't you think .

 

College players don't get a preseason, it is one game Against a very good team.. Lets
see how he does after a couple more games. SarkI really didn't call a good game either.. He will be fine. Let him go thru some adversity. Rome wasn't built in a day.

 

Emmanuel Acho though isn't someone I'd recommend for QB Breakdowns.


JT O'Sullivan, Chase Daniel, Kurt Benkurt and to a lesser extent in Kurt Warner are either superior to far superior choices.

Blame the National Media for itching to anoint Arch as the next one. They have themselves to blame but accountability to them is like mixing water and oil; never happening.

 

The talk about getting to a top 5 pick is ludicrous at this point, unless we follow the one guys plan and trade and unproven 6th rounder to get there. lmao First we do not even know what our starting point will be, next there are at least 3 team with another 1st round pick this year alone to throw into the pot. Are we going for a QB, at this point no doubt. Can we get a good QB with the capitol we have, I would think so, but let the dust settle after the year is over and then we will have a clearer view of who is available and what it might take to get there.

 

As stated we dont even know where they start the draft (well it does start in the 'burgh. but beyond that), the capitol we have is not nearly enough to move high compared to at least 3 (at this point) teams looking for a future QB. Instead of stoppering over guys we will not get, wait until the time comes and have realistic opinions about who they can move and get. Unless they totally tank the year, which is not going to happen, the move from Omar has to be a strategically placed move much like Reid made when he went after Mahomes. Finding that guy (or guys) is the place to start.

 

That's what I have been saying all along I'm not concerned with the top 2 QB prospects, because I don't think we have a chance at them.

You people are too quick to crown people. I still remember when people thought Trubisky was good, and was going to be awesome. Remember when M. Marita was considered great, remember when RG3 was considered great, or how about rookie of the year Vince Young???Where are they now?? Don't crown people so soon.

 

And none of those guys played like a future franchise QB for the Steelers like Nix has for Denver

Matt Patricia the Ohio State DC installed an NFL style defensive scheme at Ohio State. No one should be shocked that Arch looked like a deer in head lights.

 

That was a good video. Arch will hopefully get better as the season progresses, not every defense is as talented as OSU, but that wasn't a very good starting debut.

The Steelers don't need another QB that can't read defenses and throws dirt balls, so we should pass on Arch for now. Reevaluate if there is new data.

 

At least two of those guys I mentioned won Rookie of the year. You kids, and your crowning people so quickly.
