Kenny Pickett

Looks like the Raiders have already come up with adaptive football gear just for Kenny….

 

I saw his pump fake when he was with the Eagles. It was so hard it tackled himself to the ground.

 

I was responding to Steelvision who brought him up. Pointing out how the Oline maybe wasn't as solid as everyone remembers because some like to say how hard he was to bring down, while missing the point that the was having to shake off defenders. Not to mention how he got the start any way by the QBs in front of him getting hurt.

 

Sorry my friend. That wasn't really towards you, and I'm sorry if it seemed that way. I was sort of just using your comment as a jumping off point. I believe I agreed with you .

Faked the QB slide, defense let up, never was down and proceeded to run for a long TD. Not sure the game nor length but NCAA changed the rule after that.

 

I think this sometimes becomes an accountability thing. There have been some members of the Board who were quite convinced that Kenny Pickett wasn’t given a fair chance and that he was going to light it up somewhere else.

 

Some still proclaim he wasn’t given a fair chance rather than admitting to being wrong

 

I believe that was in the ACC Championship game.

 

He wasn't given a fair chance, but that doesn't mean he would have worked in a better situation.

Let's look at the opportunity the Steelers gave Pickett, since you want to go there again. \

• Put him behind a terrible offensive line, most notably an incompetent center who couldn't even be accurate with his shotgun snaps.
• Give him a pair of immature jackasses as his starting receivers (Johnson and Pickens), two guys whom the team dumped for a limited return just to get them out of town.
• Give him an offensive coordinator so incompetent that the team fired him in the middle of the season, something the organization hadn't done in decades.
• Have him play for a head coach who wants to win every game 13-10, which means Pickett was pressured to avoid interceptions at all costs, thus taking away his aggressiveness. Watch film of him at Pitt and compare it to what he was as a Steeler. You will see the difference.
• Later, give up on Pickett because he didn't make enough plays while executing the overly conservative approach the head coach wanted.
• Have him undergo a surgical procedure to rush back from an ankle injury late in his second season, then don't let him play the rest of the season.
• After handing him the job in year two, don't even give him the opportunity to compete in his third season. Instead, hand the job to Russell Wilson.
• Instead of showing some impatience and intelligence when Pickett got angry about Wilson being handed the job, give up on him for scraps so they can waste a year on Fields. Tomlin's strength is supposed to be handling players, but we have seen him fail at that over and over the last few years and y'all keep buying that it is all the fault of the players.
• I think they leaked things to make Pickett look bad after the fact to try to put their failures entirely on him rather than acknowledge that both the player and the team failed. (By the way, Pickett did not go public with complaints during any of this.)

If there were other ways they could have ****ed up their handling of Pickett, I'm not sure what they would be.

All of that said, I don't think he would have made it anyway because he can't stay healthy. That isn't an admission of being wrong. He wasn't injury-prone in college. He is very injury-prone as a pro, and that has me convinced he will be lucky to hang around as a 10-year backup.
