    Warren cannot be a heavy workhorse - he and Gainwell at 50/50 can work, i think

    Tomlin could really screw this up.

    Najee also had to deal with year one of the worst offensive coach in NFL history. They shared a rookie year. Najee lacked burst and vision, but also had to deal with an offensive coordinator who's main plan was 'try harder '. What might he have done with a great coach instead of Matt Canada?

    He doesnt have to be. 15-20 is fine. Najee wasnt carrying 30 times a game anymore.

    I think some people expectations were too high on Johnson like he was going to be RB1 from game one.

    well.....there was discussion that he would be a big back workhorse , this RB1 stuff is for the birds.

    of course he won't be that, but he won't see the field for a while, either, it appears.

    he is not impressing many right now, it looks like.

    we (fans) were counting on a big back coming in and making an impact in 2025. right now, I would not bet on that! there was PLENTY of hype on this kid, that is for sure.....

    We've had one preseason game, and some people already know how it's going to work out.

    Even if Johnson is relegated to goal line and 1st/2nd down duties spelling Warren, that is fine. Warren is a very good back and should be able to take the workload this season. 16-18 touches a game is not an unrealistic workload and the remainder of the 12-ish touches can be split between Gainwell and Johnson. Obviously it would be preferrable if they went to Johnson, but he doesn't seem ready as a blocker or pass catcher. Which is fine. He can take a few series to split with Gainwell and then take the short yardage duties. Gainwell has been used in the 6-8 touches a game role before. That would leave 4-6 to Johnson. As he develops his role can increase.

    All this whinging will be for naught if Johnson runs well the next two preseason games anyways.

    I could see the media storm on that;

    "1st Rd RB Harris Benched in Favor of UDFA".

    That's not happening in Tomlin's world.
