It starts on who is available, teams in line, who has the capital to pull it off and finding the trade partner to do it. Not even knowing where we will be planted, and while we have a boatload of capital...it is not necessarily move to the top of the draft capitol. Like any year it's wait and see, but to put any speculation at this point is silly.

A couple of times I was amazed at how little it cost to move up in certain places, in others i could not believe a team would give up that much. The numbers they use for value are nice to look at, but in reality it comes down to how much you are willing to pay and what the other team will accept, for the most part I cant believe a GM is looking out for a 'good deal for both teams', he wants whats best for him...screw the other guy, lol.

Any GM that’s not trying to get the best deal possible for his team would be a former GM with a quickness.

I never said a straight up deal, one for one. I am talking about a package deal with Thompson included, that is if he continues to play decent in the preseason. He is auditioning now to increase his trade value. I do not know what Khan has in the pipeline but a serviceable QB like Thompson can sweeten the pot and make a trade more possible

Anythings possible, injuries and such, the depth at QB is very sparce. That said, the cuts coming will give any team options to fill a position for depth, maybe Skylar lights it up and there is a grab fest for him, but the talk on some podcasts that he is in line for the number 2 spot, threatens Howards roster spot, etc...just bunk at this point.

Because there will likely be anywhere from 5-7 QBs go in the first round next year, I'm sure they will find one they like .

Unless Rodgers has an unbelievable year and ends up coming back or something they will 100% be drafting a QB in Pittsburgh next year. Like you said there are enough good ones coming out we will trade up with our plethora of draft picks and take one.

Yea I’m really surprised by some of the takes. They are going to try and take a QB whether it’s a good pick or not. They have to try…

there have been recent years with no legitimate QB's, at least one with the high number taken in the first round (last year) looking like decent to very good NFL QB's, by tradition you get one maybe 2 that actually may amount to anything. Having 5-7 prospects is wonderful, but finding that one and being in the place to grab him is 2 different things. We hope and desire, but hopes are dashed quickly in this league. Not pessimistic or optimistic, just a realistic.

Or they could I use all those picks to build out the rest of the team and get a QB in the following draft.

Maybe Rodgers has a good year and wants to play another season. Maybe they like Howard and want to see how he does.

Any number of scenarios could keep them from drafting a QB in 2026.

They forced KP in the first rd. They will take a much better prospect this year no matter which player they ultimately get. Will it work out?? Who knows but they have to and will try barring the crazy Rodgers scenario I mentioned earlier. I’m afraid Howard’s injury killed that pipe dream of leaning on him next year somehow.

The argument isn’t if they will work out that’s obviously a valid point. The argument is whether or not they will draft one rd 1. They absolutely will unless AR plays great and announces he is coming back. Even then they might although they could kick the can another year.

I expect the 2026 class to be like the 2024 QB class where 6 QBs went in the first round, Denver was able to get their guy Bo Nix at #12.

The Steelers won't keep all of those picks because all of those guys won't make the team, they're projected to have plenty of cap space next year for free agency to build out the roster.

Those pics are better suited to moving up to the 2nd and 3rd rd. Think about the talent they could assemble for this team.

We don’t know what is going to happen, I wouldn’t be upset if they walked away with a QB next draft but I can definitely see it not happening.

why would howard breaking his hand change how they see him going forward? that crazy to think that. the steelers will need offensive linemen, defensive linemen, corners and safeties and wide receivers and linebackers. i'm not sure any position is off the table in next years draft if the right guy is there. they won't throw all those draft pick away on one gamble and not know about what they have.

Yea I don’t think any of us are saying they need to move up to 1 or 2 but they can certainly trade up near the top 10 with all the draft capital they have and get a real good prospect.

Because he isn’t even going to get Pre Season reps for them to evaluate him. They can like him all they want but you can’t go into next season with a 6th rd QB that hasn’t played a snap as your plan at QB1. Maybe if Rodgers gets hurt and we suck he could play some games 2nd half of the season?

they are in camp with him and have seen quite a bit of him so far. if fans don't get daily reports they write players off, the staff has a different view of what players are capable of.

The steelers or any other team can't wait that they have a A+ roster before to draft a QB or it will be a long wait

A true franchise QB can overcome the problem the roster can have...Yes this is a risk but no risk no biscuit!

It shouldn’t take a genius to figure out the Steelers drafting a qb in 2026 isn’t a given.
