Looks like we are going to get another good player in Round 2, especially if QBs start coming off the board. I know we aren't going back to the OLB well, but just to show you the talent still available.

On a personal note, hours before the draft is set to play out, I am hoping for CB Jonathan Banks or WR Robert Woods, but we will see what happens. I will wait until Round 3 to grab a S.

    ILB Manti Te'o
    ILB Kevin Minter
    LB Arthur Brown
    OLB Damontre Moore
    OLB Alex Okafor
    DE Margus Hunt
    NT John Jenkins
    NT Jesse Williams
    OT Menelik Watson
    RB Eddie Lacy
    RB Jonathan Franklin
    RB Montee Ball
    WR Justin Hunter
    WR Kennan Allen
    WR Robert Woods
    WR Terrence Williams
    TE Zach Ertz
    CB Jonathan Banks
    CB David Amerson
    CB Robert Alford
    S Jonathan Cyprien

You don't feel we need to address our offense, especially with he departure of Wallace, Mendy, injury to Heath and one year deals to 3 of our WR?

If Arthur Brown is still on the board when we pick, I don't think it matters who is on there on offense, we will take him. Yes, we have holes on the O side of the ball, but I think we still need to realize that for the most part...they are depth holes, not starter holes. I would not be surprised to see us take an ILB in round 2 and a Safety in round 3. That would mean other needs would get met on offense later on.

I HOPE one of the top 3 ILB fall to us. Here is praying...

I love Minter but Brown is probably a better fit for the steelers.

Ill say it T'eo would be a good fit for the steelers. He would be perfect run stopper to Timmons coverage

lots of good picks still out there. williams and rambo both played in 3-4 defenses. nico johnson played in a 3-4. if i was bettin, i'd say this would help them play earlier. it may be the way they are leaning to get them on the field sooner. i mentioned this in another thread. they liked that about gay when he got here. he played as a rookie.

Ike Taylor had a meeting with Tomlin yesterday and he said that he was told, he mentioned this on the radio last night, that they were gonna go defense EARLY and OFTEN. Take away from that what you will but it sounds like they're looking maybe towards a safety or cb, lb, or maybe even a DLineman in the 2nd.

I don't like T'eo at all, but at some point his leadership probably allows me to overlook that.

That all being said, I am beginning to wonder if Minter or Brown might be there later in the round. If you look at the BPA according to ESPN (not that this is the best resource) Minter nor Brown are listed in the top 15. Interestingly enough, we pick #16 in round 2. We could get a player here that has first round talent.

Why don't you like Te'o? I didn't like him as a mid 1st rounder, but at pick #48 I think he would be ridiculous value. I think his floor is a 10+ year starter who makes 2 or 3 pro bowls and QBs the defense for a decade. I don't think he'll ever be a Patrick Willis, but a 10 year QB of the defense is huge value at pick #48.

I would be more than willing to add him to our team, because I love his intangibles, but I worry about adding another person who lacks speed based on how we are currently changing the role of our LBs. I personally think Brown, from all I have seen, fits what we want our ILB guys to do. Here you are looking at another captain type, but I think more naturally athletic.

I would also love Allen, Cyprien, or Taylor I just dont see any of them being there.

I think it is a REAL likely scenario one of the 3 ILB fall on us. Which one wouldnt you take, they are all GREAT value.

The only positive is there are a couple teams picking after us that want an ILB would could trade back.....

In retrospect, one modification that I will probably make to my Day 2 board is to raise Trevardo Williams over John Simon and Chase Thomas. I think his ceiling is a lot higher than both of those guys. Because he has a lower floor, I rated those guys higher initially. However, with Jones being a very safe pick at the OLB position, if we take a 2nd OLB I would rather the slightly riskier high ceiling guy than the safe guy. I love all 3 players, so if one of them lands in our laps in the 4th, I would be great with taking any of them.

I just wonder if Simon could be moved to the Buck? Then if he had to fill in at olb he could. He's a thumper but I'm not sure exactly dictates if he could move inside or not.

Good question. I haven't seen enough of him moving in space to be able to discern whether he could play inside. With the amount of 1st down play action in today's game, our buck had better be capable of being - at minimum - a non-liability in coverage. If we stick a pure thumper in there who has no coverage skills, opponents will have a field day throwing over the middle to tight ends in play action. Trevardo Williams is a great athlete, and is, by all accounts, a good hard working teammate. He may have buck potential as well.
