yes i know, way too early to figure it out but..............

1 preseason game doesn't give much to go on but after it i have to say i was wrong putting skylar thompson down.

very very small sample size and no counter yet from our rookie will howard. things usually change in game two of preseason as opposed to game one.

what's the plan at this early date? keep 4 QB's?

do we draft another one to throw in the mix next year?

rodgers only signed for this year.

rudolph only signed through next year.

    skylar only for this year.

    howard in the wings.

the draft in pittsburgh next year.

how do you think this plays out?

what do they do this year with them all?

do they draft one next year?

    inquiring minds want to know.

No way we keep Thompson over Howard. I think we trade Thompson to a QB needy team and maybe get a receiver. There has been chatter about getting a receiver before the season. The key is finding a good receiver who is not going to disrupt locker room chemistry. One that is a team player and can contribute positively to the team/ locker room and not be a diva distraction

I could see them stashing Thompson on the practice squad. I’m still not sold on the Steelers drafting a qb next year.

I dont have a problem drafting a QB next year but with Howard we don't have to put all our eggs in one basket and draft one in the first round to be our franchise qb.

    Amari Cooper gaining traction .
Team pretty much needs to draft a QB next season unless the top 3 are already gone by the time the Steelers pick in April.

Where to go?! Press forward with plans to trade up in 2026. Khan has to nab the one at the games most important position.

    If he cannot?! Yikes.

Has Kahn said anything about having plans to trade up for a qb in the 2026 draft? Or is it 100% fans and the media claiming that is Kahn’s plan?

With the number of draft picks the Steelers have for the 2026 draft and the fact that the Steelers right now only have Rudolph and Howard as QBs under contract for 2026, we can easily guess that the Steelers' goal will be to find their franchise QB in the 2026 draft, especially since it is likely it will be a deep QB class

So no. Just pure speculation. We also need a left guard. Possibly a right guard. Possibly another tackle. Another cornerback. Maybe a safety. Another wide receiver

It's not noon. When we got together for the 1:00 games no one would touch a beer until noon. Really silly watching a group of mostly men waiting for the clock to strike 12:00. You'd hear like 15-20 guys pop their cans to start drinking right at 12:00 after a cool Steeler SB countdown.

The most urgent need for the steelers for the future is the QB position. It don't mean they will reach on a QB if this QB don't have the potential to become a franchise QB,so I think they learn from the draft of Kenny Pickett in 2022 and we saw that in the 2025 draft but if they have the chance to have the QB they love, they will go for that for sure and this is supposed to be the case for every team without a franchise QB.

For other needs, free agency and other draft picks will be there for that too, and not all of these players need to be stars... It's different for the QB position and it's the toughest position to have so if they have a chance, they have to make sure they don't miss!

Scary thought for 2026. Even if we won the SB I don't expect Rodgers back. A guess for 2026, Mason, Howard and a draft pick. I believe Skylar is a 1 year deal. Not sure if he'll see much playing time so other teams may not show an interest in him and he'll sign again with us if needed.???????????????????????????????????

you just said it yourself. IF there’s a quarterback THEY love. It doesn’t matter what fans think. Or what they claim they saw “reviewing film”. It doesn’t matter what the talking heads say. They as in the Steelers might not love any of them, but I guarantee if they don’t draft one you’ll be making multiple posts complaining about it. The only people that know the Steelers plans for 2026 are in the front office. No matter how much time they spend making a plan it relies on the actions of the rest of the league. So those plans could change dramatically once the draft starts. It could multiple times throughout the draft.

In that instance I would just drink a European beer and there is a 5 hour time differential

It would just be a major surprise to almost everyone if the Steelers don't plan to trade up for a QB in the 2026 draft.

It would come as a major surprise to those of you that claim to know the Steelers plans. Which by now you should understand is foolish. It was just a couple months ago you started a thread complaining about their plans. Not knowing or understanding their plan.

They can fill many of those needs in free agency.

I think the simple answer is put Thompson on the PS and some other team will likely take him. Howard separated himself from Thompson in camp, and we shouldn't overreact to one really nice preseason game. We obviously like Howard's upside and have Rudolph as the perfect back up.... Rodgers likely leaves in the offseason and we draft another replacement.

Skylar Thompson had a nice game on Saturday. I don't think we need to do gymnastics to make sure he lands on the roster as our 3rd QB. If we are on our 3rd QB, we should play Howard anyways for clarity on what we need to do in the '26 draft. Lets see how he does the rest of the preseason and camp before we start finagling the roster around to accommodate our 4th QB.
