For one drive against a hs defensive scheme our backups looked elite

I was shocked they started Trevor Lawrence. That's something the brownies would do

I wanted our entire starting offense out there. They aren’t going to get better sitting around.

Seems like injuries in preseason have been more frequent than other years. Perhaps Tomlin is playing it more cautiously?

Injuries seem to be about the same to me. It’s football, injuries happen. Sitting starters might protect against an injury, but it definitely leads to a lesser product on the field.

Many teams like the rams don't play their starters in the preseason

Playing against vanilla defense don't improve much your team.....

They were beat up by Wk 15 last season and you want them to play a couple extra games that don't count?

There's no game planning. The offense (and defense for that matter) is about selecting individual plays to evaluate individuals. And that's what it ends up looking like.

They might as well not practice either. Players literally have less than 50% of the practice time now. That’s why football is so watered down.

I won't disagree with that. Thank the CBA.

Wait for the next CBA and the 18 game schedule with "mandatory" snap count limits and rest weeks for players. They'll need to boost the roster to 75 players.

September football have been brutal for years now and this is like that for every team....We see often awful offense in the first 2-3 week.At least the steelers have a good record in week 1 since 2020.4-1 overall and the defense had been great in 3 of those wins

Eventually they will learn when viewership starts to go down. It can happen even to the NFL.

True but no matter what Tomlin does people around here take shots at him. If he is too cautious there are those who complain and if he plays them to hard during preseason there is flack about that. I am totally ok with keeping the vets out since they know the system well unless their new.

Again, I'm on the fence about it. I don't care either way. Everything is vanilla, so how much can anyone over five years as a starter really work on besides new stuff, and they aren't going to show that in a preseason game anyway. Yeah , I don't care either way, but make dang sure you have them ready for the real season opener.

Yes and until they are all on the field together we won't know or get that. One good thing is the o-lines is practicing against some really good players.

    I wasnt.

It is make or break time with Trevor this season. Time to find out if he can or cannot. If not, look for Jacksonville to begin scouting his replacement. Definitley not in 2026 but 2027 isnt out of the realm of possibility.

Ask the Bengals how they are approaching this season, after the past 3 regular season starts that they have had
they are playing their starters in preseason this year. Can't expect good results without starting team members getting some
    action in preseason.

I wonder. Lawrence went down last season with a concussion from that hit when he slid. They may have been trying to see if he was going to be gun shy or something. They had a reason.
