LoL. What you should have said is You don't think Meyers can develop, because not a one of You can actually show for a fact he can't, but hey let's not let reality mess up a post.

The snap counts for Peat have been relatively consistent over the years, however the 2024 season was a disaster overall for him. After eight straight seasons with 75% or more of offensive snaps taken, he fell below 10% in 2024, indicating how quickly he declined, and how little he was utilized.

Because Alex H is out he has to deal with Nick H. Perhaps this makes a difference with Broderick looking better

I agree with him having missed all last year with injury... but he needs the playing time. He's essentially played no NFL snaps (pre or regular season). He needs the work too.

Wouldn't matter to me. I would still play him against backups for a few series in the game tomorrow. He's still essentially a rookie experience wise because of his injuries last year. Gotta get him playing and progressing. I don't want him hurt either, but he needs to play in order to get better.

I saw Travis Hunter will play both sides of the ball tomorrow too.... I know he wants to play both sides pretty badly, but if I were Jacksonville I would keep him primarily on one side of the ball and sprinkle him in sparingly on the other.

Chris Gamble was the last "two way" guy I remember and he ended up being a very nice CB for the Panthers. He didn't play offense in the NFL though. Seems like a tough ask, but I am sure whoever took him would have to have believed in him on both sides of the ball. We will see how it turns out.

Talk about hitting the rookie wall

He might do it by the bye week

Would that make it the bye bye week

I think there is some truth to this. I think he was going to naturally progress regardless if Highsmith was out there, but playing against Sawyer and Herbig is definitely a drop-off in competition.

It might have played a role, but speed rushes is/was one of jone’s major issues and that’s what herbig does

Travon Walker should be a good first test for Jones. He's on par with a Maxx Crosby.

I kinda like to see him make a mistake early to see how he bounces back from the mistake. Would he continue making mistakes or learn from it? Jones biggest issue right now is between the ears. Overcoming such mistakes is a huge tell that he's indeed going in the right direction.

Tonight was a solid performance by the O line. Tomlin was pleased mostly by the fact that there was no mental mistakes, no false starts and no blown assignments. Broderick Jones name was never mentioned while he was in there which is a good thing for an offensive lineman.

Young Offensive Lineman passed its first litmus test tonight. Jacksonville's EDGE Duo of Josh Allen and Trayvon Walker are criminally underrated and will make a bit more noise this season than others believe. Doubly so in Broderick Jones' case.

Don't think anyone could be more happy about getting back in the action than Troy Fautanu though. Broderick did need this game badly but Troy may have needed it worse. Outside of being flagged, he definitely showed out.

Looking forward to Game two against Tampa Bay. Zach Frazier is gonna have a big test (no pun intended) in Vita Vea. Mason McCormick and presumably Spencer Anderson get to deal with Calijah Kancey as well Vea is of the best IDL's in the game; a mammoth at 345lbs at least while Kancey has star level potential. Neither Broderick or Troy are getting breaks either; Hasson Reddick and Yaya Diaby being pretty good themselves.

Overall?! A Top 10 Front Seven; LaVonte David and Deion Jones as the ILBs.

I hope our OL plays them for the entire 1st Half. I'm sure that's not going to happen, but this will be a fantastic test for the group. I'm far more concerned with OL depth at this stage, but our starting OL needs to gel.

OK, since you asked. Funny story from the Jags game.

The announcers were talking about meeting with Tomlin, and they were talking about former Steeler Fred Johnson, and Tomlin indicated it was a great pick up and that the Steelers, "Pat Meyer", just didn't have time to work with him.

This is the Standard for Pat Meyer. A lot of young players with potential that Pat Meyers just "Doesn't have time to work with"

WOW, are you really going to hang your hat on 2.6 YPC and no TDs as the bar for a good game by the O-Line?

And, who the hell is Lew Nichols??? :)
Without big Lew this would have been a pathetic outing by the Running Game. Grade F.

The starting OL is a solid B, the backups i can give a C- for the reasons you gave. OL in general was A+ in pass protection with the only blemish was a coverage sack allowed and a hands to the face penalty. Johnson ran ok the second drive and after that was bad behind the second string OL. And the chunk of OL in the 2nd half i won't even grade as they most likely won't be on the team.

as was said on the broadcast, the jags were playing eight in the box and the steelers didn't have to run against them. they just took advantage of it and threw the ball. i'll take 31 points. the o-line while not a perfect game played pretty well. many moving parts by the end of the game on the o-line. cook looked pretty good. peat for all the longer he has been here looked fine. pass protect was pretty decent. i'll take it for game one.

    Agreed.

A good First Half even shouldnt deter Tomlin and the Coaching Staff from keeping those players in there.

Fred Johnson was with the Steelers in 2019

In 2019 Pat Meyer wasn’t with the Steelers he was with LA Chargers

So no he didn’t have time to coach players on two teams one of which he didn’t work for

Fred Johnson has been on 5 teams in 6 years apparently no one had time to work with him

    FFS do your homework

The run game is a concern but yesterday, the steelers had only 3 run with their starting o-line(3 runs,12 yards)so we need to wait....

the premise was he didn't need to play the whole game as some have wanted so they gel. the jags didn't leave starters in for long and fautanu did well against them. our staff did it right not leaving those guys in for extended duty. we took the first drive down the field for a score. it is a long season, our starters don't need to play full preseason games.

the jags players wanted to play and coen was trying to see what he had and establish a cohesion with the players so he let them.
