Sorry everyone, I don't know why I had it in my head that Spence was an OLB.

Efeirt gives Bengals better O than Steelers. Still disappointed we did not get him as he high points everything. They want to win and look at their Red Zone Offense. How are we going to cover them by the goalline.

Lord. The Bungles are going to put up like 35 points a game. On paper at least.

Wasn't JJ at the draft or did jackass Bad-dell set things up so we didn't get to see our boy raise the Black and Gold jersey? everybody was in a hurry with the SF trade

I don't understand this pick. There were too many others on the board that could have given us a better chance at winning. But, here I sit at home and not working for the Steelers. So, we'll see what happens.

I have similar feelings, but I knew as soon as Vaccaro came off the board who we were taking and I really, really see it as more risk than can possibly be rewarded.

    I hate this feeling.

Colbert said Jones is one of those "special" players he was referring to the other day. So San Fran might've wanted to trade but I guess they love him

Yeah but the Steelers have the better QB Big Ben and the Bungles have Andy Dalton.

While I was one who wanted Eifert, I understand the reality here. Jones is not a pick for now...he is a pick for later. He will contribute in small ways this year, but next year he will start to make difference making plays.

I think people forget, if you looked at the draft board immediately after the season was over....Jones was the #2 projected pick. #2! He started to slip when the spinal stenosis became public knowledge. He slipped more after the poor 40 time. Well, guess what boys, we got a heck of a player.

Are we as bad as the Jets fans? LOL i'm just wondering because I remember in february some people were saying Jarvis Jones won't make it out of the top 5 picks and we'd kill to have him (we still had Harrison at this time). Then he runs a 4.9, his spinal condition, and he falls to us #17 and I read some posts that make it seem like we just forfeited our #1 pick by drafting him. All I can say is more often than not the steelers make a good pick. As much as I question moves, we still all gotta have faith in our system. Just look at the raiders past drafts, and you will appreciate our FO, scouts, and coaches decisions more and more. Welcome to Pittsburgh Jarvis Jones!

A defensive rookie is going to start? Nope. He'll back up and learn the ropes for a year at least.

Our 2nd round pick will be real interesting. Looks like there will be plenty of WR s and DB s to chose from.

Yeah and I saw Chris Johnson talking about the real way to judge a linebacker is to watch him run side to side as opposed to straight ahead. How did he do in that aspect? Maybe they saw something besides just the 40 time.

I've watched Jones in five games and I only recall seeing him drop back into coverage a couple times. He seemed comfortable. I imagine that's going to be an area of development.

My concern with Jones is that he has a tendency to play too upright, and as a result, has his rush stymied against larger tackles. He is a special player with an explosive motor, though. I welcome him.

He's definitely a good pick, he's one of several that I would have been happy with going into the draft, it's just that as it turns out, Vaccaro and Eifert would have been more appealing to me. Vaccaro went just before us and we passed on Eifert. I didn't really know how I felt about any of it until he unfolded.

I hear what you're saying. Before there was no chance he would fall to us. No chance!! Now it feels like a funeral. I think the 40 time took the wind out of a lot of sails because it seems like it puts a ceiling on how good he can be and makes it seem like he was just an over achiever. Usually guys like that can be decent NFL players but they won't be special. And with a pick this high, you want someone special. Not saying he won't be, i'm just think people aren't sure what to think.
