Again. Better Qb, and better D. I haven't missed the regular season record, but by a tie since I've been on here, and I've won real money on the over, and under 4 years straight, and hope to make it 5 years straight this year.

The O line could be worse. And I wouldn't crown the defense as better quite yet.

Rodgers = Wilson at this point.

Is the D truly better? Sure there's hella more talent but it's going to boil down to chemistry and communication. Sometimes too many cooks in the kitchen is a bad thing. Talent wins games, role players win championships.

    Edit

And the D certainly can be better. I'm just in wait and see mode.

Even if Rodgers, and Wilson were exactly the same right now at the Qb position(Which they never have been). Still Rodgers height would give him an advantage, he doesn't have to find open lanes in the OL to see down field.

QB Height and open lanes don't mean squat if the O line can't pass block consistently.

Doug Flutie was a damn good QB and short as hell. :lolol:

Kyler Murray is not awful... and he's short too.

That’s what I based my prediction poll on

Rodgers had a lot more TDs and yards than the other two combined

That equals about 70 more points

That should equal to more wins

Plus not by much but we should be better at WR and maybe RB

Sounds like a lot of people are afraid to get their hopes up. J. Ramsey ,and new DB coach, and new assistant DBs coach will make communication better. Not saying You, but some of the people on here act like we sucked on D last year, and we have added coaches, and players that will make it even better. Of course injuries can derail all of it, but that's for the whole NFL .

Been getting burnt on high hopes since 2016. I'm done with it. I was hopeful 2 years ago with Pickett's second year... but that all crumbled pretty quickly after getting wiped out by 49ers in home opener.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a wait and see mindset. Chemistry/communication is built upon experience playing together. I remember when the Redskins, now Commanders, loaded up their defense with aging vets in the mid 90s and it totally flopped. So there's definitely historical precedent to base my opinion on.

Different coaches, different team. It's cool. I'm not trying to say you are wrong. I'm trying to say this is how I see it.
And I haven't even brought up the new youth on the DL yet.
As a DB, and Defense guy, I'm freaking excited about this Defenses opportunity this year.

I'm with you - we perennial Pirate fans will always find a silver lining somewhere, especially when it comes to football season. Remember the conflicts we faced in the late 70's when the winning Pirates, Pitt and Steelers had conflicting schedules and we didn't have DVRs or even video recorders? Ah, the good old dazed and confused times. :drinks:

Our offense was awful at the end of the year but the TOP was not just the offense fault....Too many time, the opposing offense had very long drive against our defense and the D were unable to leave the field...remember the eagles game when the steelers had only 2 drive on offense in the second half!...It was brutal

I think they are better on paper on defense but the question is if it will be enough to win more game?

Last year, the QB room was much better that the one of 2023 but still finish with the same record

I am optimistic that we have improved at the QB position.
    I like our RB room.
I think our receiving corps plus ARod is something to be looking forward to.
As many have said on here, the OL is a big question mark. All teams go as the OL goes.

I feel like we improved on the DL and at OLB with the draft.
ILB looks stronger with Queen, Wilson, and Holcomb.
This secondary looks like it can be historically good. If the defense plays to its billing, this may be one of our best seasons statistically.

Other that OL I am convinced this team can make some noise this season. And I'm not down on the OL exactly. Just it is an unknown, specifically LT. But we will find out a lot this season about how bright the future is, or isn't. That alone is worth the price of admission in my book.

It will all come down to the OL and play calling and IF
OC opens up playbook and MT lets him. I have my doubts.
Defense has to get mean and play aggressive football. No Pussy's
allowed only people that want to hit. That includes in cold weather!

I'm getting that too. When we got Rodgers they kept asking if I was pumped.

I love winter when it actually snows for ski season. We haven't had a good blizzard/2 foot snow since 1998. The winters have been warm and ski slope quality and conditions have went downhill big time in the past 15 years.

IMO, season comes down to health. Not a Rodgers fan but know if he stays healthy and his desire is strong I can see a good season.

It's funny because in reading this I couldn't help but think of the Chiefs last year. To biggest differences of course are a coach who can think and make plans and a HOF caliber QB who did have an off year but still was in the Super Bowl. Yet the had an old aging defense, lost their RB early had had a committee approach, lost their stud WR and then went after aging former studs that kinda was mixed results. They forgot about their stud TE until suddenly they remembered him and had a chance at history. Do I think the same can happen with this year's Steelers? Never say never but I'm not expecting it, maybe more like the 05 team that turned it around and shocked the league.

The chiefs defense outside of Chris Jones was a very young defense in the last few years....They had a lot of 2nd and 3rd years players on this defense but yeah their offense were not good because they had a very poor LT,big reason why they draft a LT in the first round this year.Losing their top WR did not help too...

2 big reason why the chiefs were 15-2 and in the super bowl last season,it was because they won every one score game and they had at one point 8 games in a row without turnovers on offense

They were not that good in the last 2 years but they know how to win and overcome their problem, until they face a loaded roster like the eagles
