That this is a 10-7 or better team. As a matter of fact I’d be kind of surprised if they squeaked out a 9-8 record again. Everyone one I know seems to think this will be a breakout year and even opposing fans are telling me the Steelers are going all in. SB or bust. This team is just aging and only has one real WR threat. Defense may be the oldest in the league. AR could be crippled by game 3 with our Swiss cheese Oline and we still have mediocre Mike calling the shots. I am usually very optimistic but this year I am not. Boswell can’t do it all by himself. Somebody convince me I am wrong.

you should NEVER be too optimistic about a MT coached team. optimistic about what? a serious SB run? it ain't real - it is and always will be FOOLS gold, a MIRAGE, and always a head fake. We may back door into that #7 spot.

    maybe.

short of Lamar and Allen and the other elite QB's / teams in the AFC getting decimated with injury, we will be watching in late December with playoff calculations, roots for teams to LOSE so that we can sneak in.

    One should never be convinced.
I know for me, I see a really good story "IF" Rogers can lead them all the way.
But that is a really long shot against tall odds.
I think they will do well enough though. There should be some exciting plays and good games.
So, I couldn't make any argument to convince anyone...

If we get the Oline developed and are more aggressive on defense, I think this can be a pretty good team. Tomlin has to have confidence in the players or he becomes pretty conservative. I believe he has the players he wants on defense finally and he believes in Rogers. Rogers didn’t have a run game last year with the Jets. He was coming off an Achilles injury but as the season went on he played relatively well. If we can get last half of the season of Rogers this year with a good run game and dominant defense I think this team will advance in the playoffs this year. It would be a great springboard into a revitalized team going into nest season with very few holes moving forward and alot of cap space.

My expectations are lower this year than they were last year. Fields and Wilson are more durable QBs than Rodgers. With the O line being a huge question mark and main reason the Steelers have struggled since Pouncey/Roethlisberger retired..... I hope Rodgers can survive the season without being placed on IR.

I refuse to have false hope for this year....If the steelers have a great season, great but if this is about more of the same,at least the disappointment will not be too big for me

I’m not implying that the sky is falling I’m just saying I am not all black n gold colored glasses this year. I hope they can prove me wrong and go about 12-5 and Win a playoff game or two. I just don’t see it unless they add another big WR threat and the Oline plays to an elite level. 2nd week of training camp has all 32 teams showing capability. Heck, this aging team could be a Mash unit by game 9. I’d love to eat these words by the end of the season and will gladly do so but I think we are not as good as people are projecting. JMHO.

Fields and Wilson are more durable... that got me to thinking..
Other than that disastrous 2023 season, when looking at the 4 plays he was in on, all 4 plays he had defenders on him almost as soon as ball arrived. I remember thinking, he's going to get killed. The Jets were horrible at blocking.

But other than that season, since 2018 he's played all the games.
In 2017 he took that awful sack that messed up his collarbone.
His TDS and yards are crazy good during that span of 5-years.

More concerning is that in the 1 seasons he played for the Jets and the last season in GB he threw 23 picks.
in 11 seasons before he never threw double digit picks.

So, I dunno... he is 41 and by default, he could be injured easier.. but he is also smarter.
I don't really know what to make of all this... but I think it is safe to say that as long as we keep his uniform clean, he could be good.

Win or lose I'm excited about football being back. I watch HS football on Friday nights, my grandson plays on the middle school team on Saturday mornings, college football all Saturday afternoon and night, the Steelers on Sunday and all of the other televised games that week. The next 26 weeks of my life I'll be watching football, this is the greatest time of the year.

    I can do without winter

I define winter as starting at the end of the last Steelers game and ending with the first daffodils

This is a boom or bust type of year if I ever seen one. This team could just as easily finish 5-12 as It could find itself in the AFC TG. I'm grateful for not being a gambling man.

    Pretty simple IMO.
We have a better Qb, and a better Defense than last year, and we went 10-7 last year.

General every day NFL fans that I have been talking to are very positive about the Steelers this season. I am not feeling that optimism. Tar and feather if you must.

Anyone who feels optimistic about this clusterfark of a team should share some of that good stuff with me. Tomlin can't put together a real contender, so he put together a circus. In his own words, "We're in the entertainment business."

that is not the best logic, IMO. powder puff schedule for 10 games last year - then the NFL season began, after our BYE and we got throttled.....

every team changes, we made changes, but I am not sure we are better.

OLINE remains a terribly large question mark.

and of course, lack of great coaching, all over the place.
