Worried about Oline

Sometimes You take the players because they are there. Look at how many times we've taken LBs now, and with Cowher, and we had players in that position already good. I just hope it works out. Also they take them because it's a business, and if You can get the same work for cheaper, like a guy on a rookie contract, You do it.

 

Unfortunately 3-4 years is unrealistic to establish a line. There should be positive growth each year if you are adding pedigree. I get it we have had injuries but so does every team. The sardines are way too high now to wait for guy to develop. They need to hit the ground running.

let’s put it this way. It will be year two and three for everyone on the line this year with the exception of the RT. I will gladly eat grow if this oline is at least a top 15 unit in this league this year and is able to allow this offense to develop a solid run game and give Rodgers enough time to be top 15 in lowest sack%.

I don’t think that’s why they took Jones. They traded up for him and passed on Gonzalez an obvious need. He was targeted by them. They said that after the draft. Plus Moore’s contract was cheap so in this case he was clearly looked at as a replacement if Moore.

80/20 rule... 80% player, 20% coaching. Been this way for a long time.

btw, if coaching is 20% then doing some maths; 17 games X 20% = 3 1/2 games that a win or loss is directly attributable to coaching. This could be time management in a close game, a critical 3rd/4th down play, or simply enough, a bad gameplan for an opponent (i.e getting outcoached).
