Imagine what the team could have done with even an average quarterback

man I was born and raised with the original steel curtain! I chose not to play running back in Jr Pee wee ball because I wanted to replicate Jack Lambert and play linebacker and did so all the way through high school before getting expelled from school and throwing away any dream of playing after high school. So I have always been a defense first guy as well!

And exposed Canada cause it was obvious to everyone (including the homers on this board) that the offense just sucked... that was worth the #1 draft pick.

i would say it was pretty loaded - 4 to 5 pro bowlers. (CAM, TJ, Minkah, Queen, at least.....) and JPJ as a high #2 in S2 supposedly some upcoming SUPER STAR. Terrible scheme and coaching......

what do we want or need - 6 future HOF'rs??!! :lolol:

Our secondary ws pretty bad the second half of the season. Schematically and personnel wise. I know Minkah made the pro bowl but that was in name only as was Queen. You are right though we didn’t utilize the ILB’s or the four man rush right. Once Watt was neutralized our pass rush became non existent. We did nothing to combat that. It looks like we are revising that this year. More aggressive with the ILB’s in run and pass blitz. Nickel blitz and moving the OLB’s around. Stunts, disguised coverages, quarters, etc. Expectation is a top 3 defense in the majority of categories. I even settle for top 5. Anything less will be disappointing.

Watt got injured, in early Dec., as you know.

Then the O sucked! Just sucked and that D got gassed when it mattered most, vs the better teams in the league. it's hard to be a Top 5 when your offense is SOOOO bad and you are on the field all the time. both sides of the ball have to function.

There was a lot of talent on that D - Tomlin mismanaged, he and Austin - they don't know what they are or doing, or should I say, that they do, but so does EVERYONE ELSE.

PS - I love your avatar, top 10 all time FAV Steeler and his tee shirt was the BEST!
PSS - I am not sure JPJ is elite. good, but maybe not great. has a serious hands problem, that is for sure, so far in his young career.

Mine as well. Harrison was intimidating but he wasn’t on Lloyds level. Funny story. My Girl Friend at the time knew he was my favorite player and she worked at dental office and Lloyd had come in after losing one of his front teeth. She asked him for his autograph signed to me. He begrudgingly gave her one. She said he was cranky and mean. He was worried that the media was gonna find out about his lost tooth and start comparing him to Lambert.

Thanks on the Avator. Our Defense seems to wear down almost every year. My theory is we play that bend but don’t break defense with alot of soft cover two and it allows teams to drive the field on us. We hope to creat a turnover and force a mistake. The problem is that kind of style of play is unsustainable over the course of a season because the defense is on the field for a very long time and they eventually get injured or worn out. Having an offense that is consistently three and out doesn’t help either.

Imagine if this defense can force more three and outs this year and we have an offense that sustains long drives and puts points up. Imagine this pass rush if we played with a lead and that secondary.

Quick story I met Gregg Lloyd in person at Giant Eagle in Cranberry Twp . on Eve of
Blizzard of 93, He also went to same dog trainer as me, He had a Rottweiler that
Wouldn't behave and was not allowed back.

Lloyd would have bit Harrison' s head off and hand it back to him.
