They wanted to keep Fields at their price range they weren't sold on him long term, and they didn't want to pay that guaranteed money for 2026 when they will draft their franchise QB.

    Nope

There are three points that verify I am right

    1) Im normally right

    2) Fields was not given an offer accordingly

    3) Fields is not here

He was given an offer as a backup

Jets gave him an opportunity to start

Im happy to teach you

I will take your word that Schefter knows more than you

My hit ratio greatly exceeds anything Schefter posts to get clicks

I am sure Fields would stay with the steelers if Tomlin would stick with him as starter...And remember Baker Mayfield had only a 1 year 4 millions contract in his first contract with the bucs....The same QB who had over 40 TD last season,so being in a good situation matter

You are often wrong...Just to look at your comment lately on Roethlisberger when you said he never take the blame after a bad game....

Your lack of comprehension does not make me wrong

My ability to comprehend allows me to understand the facts and separate them from the fantasy

But you do your best that is all we can ask

Even @steelersrule6@steelersrule6 regularly has to correct you just saying

We already knew that Baker was serviceable as a Qb from when he was in the Browns, not great ,but serviceable. Let's not let one year change our minds. Also I have always believed that a player will continue to get better as long as they have the chance, and until their body doesn't allow it anymore, or betrays them.....the thing is how much better, and I don't see Fields passing game getting better enough to spend that kind of money on.

The biggest thing Baker needed to do was grow up

Fields had 4 years and two teams worth of opportunities

How many times do you walk into a wall before you decide to go open the door

Your love affair with Fields is hilarious

Baker was terrible in 2019,good in 2020,not good in 2021 and he was cut in 2022 during the season by the panthers

This is a big reason why the best offer he had in free agency in 2023 was only 4 millions.....

So obviously sticking with him would have been a bad idea

    Just like Fields

He was injured one of those years, and shouldn't have been playing. He's serviceable.

The Steelers should've signed Baker before he went to Tampa Bay.

I'm not sure. I believe he's serviceable, but I'm not sure he's worth too much money, and it would have depended on how much. We shall see

He's worth the going rate for QBs and better than Trubisky and Pickett who they started then .

It's easy to say now but in 2023,it was before the second year of Pickett,so it was not the time to gave up on him at that time.If it was the year after,it would been a another story

You are right about 2021 but the best offer he had in free agency in 2023 was still only 4 millions.Last year he had over 40 TD pass despite many injuries at the WR position during the year
