Controversial, but Omar Khan and possibly Tomlin should be terminated if they fail to sign a QB

And you think Fields would've done any better against that tough competition? He struggled in the passing game in the easy part of the schedule .

The chargers and Broncos had top 5 defense and Fields was very good in those games...He was much better that his numbers vs Denver because of the several penalties of the o-line....It cost like 70 passing yards and 1 TD pass in the first half alone for Fields...I also prefer to play a young player over a below average or washed player

This is another reason why I was not happy when in 2023,Moore was ahead of Jones at the LT position.Tomlin need to trust the young players more and live from their mistake and not waiting until your back are against the wall before making a change

Jones was a raw player coming out of college with only being a starter for one year.

Fair enough, they had Fields at 110 yards and Wilson at 225 YPG.

He wants to blame Fields struggles on the coaching staff.

Fields is a player that can drive you nuts.
He's 6'3" and 230 or so.... a very good arm and great speed.
He ran for 1100 yards + in '22, even followed it up with 657 more the next year.
But his passing is the most confounding. He can throw a laser strike on one play then inexplicably throw it right into the hands of the opponent the very next play.
He never reach 3,000 yards passing.
    Averaged a pick:
    '21 - 1 for every 27 attempts
    '22 - 1 for every 28.9 (29) attempts
    '23 - 1 for every 41 attempts

31 picks, 20 fumbles and sacked 151 times.
Chicago folks said that 'there's no next rung on the ladder' for him.
Full disclosure, I hated signing him but hoped for the best.
Pittsburgh limited his picks, but it was obvious he wasn't going to a next level, even though I agree with some that he didn't deserve to be benched.
But Wilson did flash at times.

It was a crappy patch by us. Wilson was dirt cheap so they could have stopped there... the idea of rebuilding Fields is a large gamble.
But in the end, we are set up to be interesting this year with our QBs and look to be set up for '26.

Omar has 1 job; Find a QB.

They count all the other games towards the YPG. If he plays a single snap and throws for 0 yards, it counts the same as a game where he started the whole game.

6 starts avg 186 ypg, 4 games played 0 yards in those games (1 total attempt), avg 0 ypg - total ypg 110. A bit misleading for sure.

I kinda disagree. Fields is the type of player you have to build an offense around. One that focuses on leveraging his running ability and has a strong running game overall. He's never going to be Joe Burrow, but that isn't the point. He needs to run 10 times a game, make a handful of big plays, take care of the ball, and that's it. Jalen Hurts averaged less than 8 ypg more than Fields did in his starts and he won the SB... I honestly think Fields was on his way to becoming a Hurts-lite type player. The next rung IS lessening the turnovers. We have a coordinator that likes to run it (and likes to utilize a mobile QB), we are building the trenches and the running game. Idk. It could have been a good fit.

I'm not saying its the incorrect decision either. If we'd rather roll another rental QB and trade up next year, then so be it. If we pick the right player, then it wont matter in the end. But, I do think that Fields was the right decision in the long run. He'd either improve and be good enough for us to build around, or he'd fail and we'd be in position to pick the next QB. We rolled the dice hard on Wilson and it didn't work.

Fields sucks…not his fault, every OC fault. I’m sure it will be the Jets OC fault this season.
Fields was done after that pathetic performance against a Dallas defense that was decimated.
