Controversial, but Omar Khan and possibly Tomlin should be terminated if they fail to sign a QB

Stop ....please Stop....Fields ran over 61 times in just 6 freaking starts. How in the hell can You say they forced him to be a pocket passer. Had He played all year that would have gave him way more runs than even Jaylen Warren had.

 

The QB sneak or the kneel down in victory formation like the 3 vs chargers is considered as a run in the stats but it was not a true designed run.....

 

How the hell is the Qb sneak not a run??? How ever you want to twist it, he was on an average of 170 runs that's J. Allen, and Lamar Jackson territory.....so how can you say they were forcing him to be a pocket Qb. Just admit you are wrong, and they weren't.

 

I mean,in his 50 starts,Fields had only 10 games below 30 rushing yards.3 of those was with us

Fields left because the Jets offered him more guaranteed money, him not playing last season it had nothing to do with it .

 

Khan would offer him more guaranteed money if he thought that Fields would been our answer for the future but it was impossible to know since Tomlin asked to Fields to be a game manager in those 6 games.If Fields would been in a different role and asked to play to win and that he would been very good in that,Fields would not hit the free agency.....The worst thing who would happen would been the transition tag for him at 30 millions and the others teams would needed to gave up 2 first round pick to have him,so in the end,Fields would still been a steelers for 2025 and likely more and with no need to worry about the 2026 draft to trade up for a QB

Anyway,my point remain it will be a awful look for Tomlin if Fields has a breakout year with the jets this season

 

They should put their faith in Fields who averaged 17 PPG and struggled to throw the ball , it's funny that's when Pickens was acting up but when Wilson became the starter he quieted down.

 

Why the offense struggle so much in the first half in the Tomlin era?

 

Even a young Josh Allen would struggle in a Mike Tomlin offense.Tomlin don't know what to do with a young QB outside to asked him to be a game manager...Hard to score points when this is the case.Btw,why you always said 17 PPG when it was 20 PPG with Fields and it could have been way more without the penalties in Denver in the first half and the victory formation at the one yard line vs Chargers..

And the steelers score 14 PPG in the final 5 games with Wilson

I mean good try but it includes 4 games that Fields did not play a lot outside of few snaps in short yard situation and this is why his passing average in yards goes down like crazy in those 4 games he was on the bench for most of the game

Well, in his 6 starts he rushed 55 times. He rushed 7 times in games where he didn't start as a part of the additional package we had for 4th down/RZ/etc.

That being said, that still puts him at 9 rushes a game... which is less than Jalen Hurts and early Lamar Jackson, but about exactly where Jackson's been the last 3 years. Its 2 rushes a game more than Allen. So he wasn't a "pocket passer", but they didn't overly abuse his rushing. He was used as a true dual threat (which is how he should have been used IMO).

 

That's all I was trying to get at. He was not forced to be a pocket passer.
